Noise levels in the 777 are pretty high in my experience. The A380 was whisper quiet by comparison. I'll take Airbus over Boeing any day.

Re the noise levels. The B777 and the A380 are a generation apart AND the amount of insulation can be controlled at purchase. Put those two together and you get the noise level difference.

Is the BA lounge in Terminal D a proper BA lounge, or is it operated by a third party (and not available to OW status members)? The OW website mentions nothing about the BA lounge being operated by a third party, but this is contradicted by the BA website which says that the DFW lounge is operated by a third party.

I booked a classic award seat x2 to SFO via LAX last Monday. Cannot be rebooked without penalty. Would cheerfully go via DFW.

I was politely denied access to the BA lounge in mid-December. I was flying AA and had enough time to head over to Terminal D. The lady told me that they are restricting access to BA passengers only due to the lounge's small size. This would continue, she told me, until the 777s returned to the DFW-LHR route. It must be a very small lounge.

If you have a Priority Pass, you can use "The Club" in Terminal D, although the opening hours look a little restrictive. The details for this are:

Airport: Dallas (TX) - Dallas/Ft. Worth International, Terminal D

Lounge: The Club at DFW

Location: Airside - adjacent to Gate D22. After clearing Security or arriving in Terminal D via Sky Link, follow the signs for "Airline Clubs". Proceed through the double glass doors marked "Airline Clubs" next to Gate D22 and take the elevator to the 5th Floor.

Have been to the BA DFW lounge. It is small. But it does have a separate F lounge to the side- no different in any way except that you are supposed to be F/emerald to go in (no policing it though, you can just go in there). It's not a 3rd party lounge in that it's someone else's lounge, it's BA all the way inside just no BA staff working there as far as I remember. It's in a suite of little lounges used by various airlines. Got in there no problem travelling on AA. We went there for free booze. At that point it was still the chit system with AA. Oh and sandwiches. I guess they still don't offer them in the AA lounges. (just pretzels and fruit from memory)

There are showers in the Terminal D AC lounge at DFW (...and in AC lounges in Terminals A & C. I'm not 100% sure about the small AC in Terminal B).

So is the second and the third ... 4th perhaps but I haven't gone there in a A/C.

Tip: There is nothing to stop one from going back and requesting more after using your first voucher(s).

UA have ditched their vouchers and offer basic alcoholic beverages (AKA "Well Drinks") on a complimentary basis. One needs to pay for 'premium' beverages. (More on that here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...fi-snacks-alcoholic-non-alcoholic-drinks.html)

AA also are now providing basic alcoholic beverages on a complimentary basis; however, they are still providing vouchers for 'premium' drinks to those who entitled to them on the same basis (e.g. Non AA oneworld emerald/sapphire, AA EXP/Platinum travelling "to outside North America+MEX", QP members).

I'd been checking my booking on QF73 on 3 Jun since the announcement; since this morning, it's showing QF73 greyed out and QF11 to LAX instead.

I've now called QF and switched to QF93 (since I'm starting in MEL), operated by the A380. Anyone want to make a guess on any of the following?

• Will my upgrade chances (T to J) be better ex-MEL than ex-SYD? (Assuming most of the QF73 people will remain on ex-SYD flights, I hope so.)
• Compared with B747 flights, are upgrades on the A380 relatively less common? (I'm now 4 for 4 in T to J upgrades on B747 flights transpac.)
• Will the A380 still be operating over the Pacific come June?

I had my partner booked on QF74 in November as the last leg of a RTW J award booking. Called Qantas to see what the options were for changing the booking and was advised they were not sure as yet what the impact was for award flights other than there would be availability via LAX and DFW but obviously not in J all the way.

When I originally made the award booking late December there was no J availability out of LAX for a week around the dates I wanted, so I took the SFO option instead. So I asked the very helpful Qantas agent to check again for J availability out of LAX around the same date, they asked me to hold on for a few minutes. Result was a change to QF12 in J, on the same date. There was no charge for the change and +1 is now very happy to travel in J out of LAX and hopefully on a 380.
