A WP/CL can call Qantas Premium and ask that a request for these seats be made to "Seating" for pre-allocation there.I didn't think you could be allocated row 16 until T-24 or around then..??

Even as SG your travel agent should be able to pre-allocate these. I have 16A to LHR and back in June...
Hey not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I noticed in Australian Aviation that American have ordered 2 777-300ER's .. any chance that as part of the closer QF/AA tie up we will see AA metal across the pacific? The article said:
"These additional widebody aircraft will bolster our network strategy, particularly the international growth opportunities we expect from our joint businesses with oneworld partners in the transatlantic and transpacific markets,” said Tom Horton, president, AMR Corp, the parent company of American Airlines.
What do people make of that statement? AA on the Pacific route?
With that selective quote, you'd think so, however iirc the full release implied it would be used on one of EU and North/East Asian markets, and/or to free up some aircraft on the EU runs by replacing older 772s with the (higher capacity) 773s.
* Sydneysiders may prefer to read the article in the SMH. Just changing the URL from TheAge to SMH, and tada an SMH articleOne of the major attractions is that Qantas will be selling a 70-minute international-to-domestic connection at Dallas, which means that onward services to cities such as New York and Washington with American Airlines are up to two hours faster from Sydney than via the much slower connections in LA.
Was reading about this in the Age ( Qantas to fly world's longest 747 route )* interesting bit is the 70 minute connection

Qantas to fly world's longest 747 route
The 787's have a longer range than the 747's don't they?
Only by about 1000 kms ... but they couldn't carry as much weight .
787 Range fully loaded- 7,650–8,200 nmi (14,200–15,200 km; 8,800–9,440 mi) with 224 (3-class) pax
747 7,670 nmi (14,205 km) with 416 (3-class)

If the SYD/DFW flight is some 13816Kms (using QF Route map to get that figure),
and the range with full payload of 744LR is 12700Kms (using QF seatmap for 744),
Do you think that it will be deliberately undersold (spare seats) to lighten payload and make it safe to plan the flight that exceeds the plane's range ?
Or would there be cancellations if no tailwinds ?
Or issue some heftier pax with parachutes ?
The best person to answer this would be JB747.If the SYD/DFW flight is some 13816Kms (using QF Route map to get that figure),

Does anyone have any idea about the time frame for aircraft refit or swap on this route. I've booked for late October and currently have a seat in the F cabin (on a J basis) - but was wondering of the chance of it going back to a three class aircraft?
Actually, I believe at least two of them are to be among the first ones to be converted.... Bear in mind that only the 747-400ER aircraft are capable of operating this route and that, as the newest 744s in the fleet, they may be the last ones converted to the new config.
