I hope not, there's a lot of SC to be had flying through SYD ;)

Sure is! I have just booked a status run for next week on the route . MEL-SYD-OOL in flexible econ at $219 (20+20 x 2 for double SC promo = 80 SC ), then turn around and do OOL-SYD-MEL for 24,000 points on JASA plus $130 (40+40 x 2 = 160 SC). Miles earnt: 4500 plus approx 4000 for loyalty bonus = 8500. I think for $350 and 15500 points that 240 SC is not a bad day. Repeat x 5 and renew platinum.

Of course, depending on the number and timing of any potential future MEL-OOL flights, it doesn't necessarily mean that connections via SYD won't still be available. For example, while there are plenty of direct BNE-MEL flights, they still offer options via SYD.

not at the same price. you will be paying for a fare BNE-SYD and SYD-MEL. The routing rules on QF fares for BNE-MEL stipulate direct only.

An average of 85% load factor across the board is not too shabby for the first 12 flights so far... I'm sure QF would be happy enough with that.

Spoke with a CSM yesterday and they have advanced sold 24000 seats on the SYD OOL SYD sectors
