QF to return to OOL [$48 SYD fares until 3pm Wed 15Aug12 ($88 MEL)]

Not long now...

These have been installed for the last 3 weeks at least, but have had a shroud over them. I noticed they were uncovered this week.

Interesting that they are putting Qantas next to Virgin. Though I guess there's not much room elsewhere along the check-in counters.

So now there will be 2x LCC's (J* & Tiger), 1 'Hybrid' LCC (DJ) and 1 Full service carrier (QF).
Alot of choice now :)

I don't see why QF should've just considered putting NGCI from the get go. Even a compact set up has more throughput than a few check-in counters alone.

Either QF doesn't seem as committed to the Gold Coast as we would be lead to believe, or it's saying something about what QF thinks of the overall intelligence and/or sophistication of Gold Coast flyers.
 
Would seem ludicrous if Qantas didn't install at least one brilliant NGCI.

The difference in QF DOM terminals because of it is astounding.

Never mind the NGCI, my inaugural QF860/861 flights don't have a lounge visit any more. Assuming I could have accessed the JQ lounge.

Missed it by 'that' much!

I wouldn't go nuts. Your layover in OOL was too quick, and there'll probably be enough AFFers there to make you feel more welcome than a lounge with instant ramen :)

I saw some in GLT the other day, no where near the QF counters, in fact closer to Virgin's counters, so perhaps they'll install them somewhere else, but from what I recall of the installation in Brisbane, they required fixing to the floor, so perhaps they need to develop a portable one for a Common User Terminal?
 
Checkin kiosks for three flights a day? Sounds to me like they are planning many more flights and destinations in the near future ;)
 
Also, it's going to be awfully crowded on a Saturday morning with A330 flights to Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, 777 flight to Singapore and then QF, VA, JQ and TT all with flights. Checkin is normally crowded with Air Asia has checkin open, wonder how Qantas will fit in there.

Next Generation Check In

It's the automatic teller type machines you can use to get a boarding pass rather than speaking to real person.

I thought that was a Quick Check Machine (or some other random name), while NGCI refers to the shiny poles that glow green or red ;)
