QF "trust us" letter

Or better the devil you know?
He obviously has the support of the Board.

To spill both, I think you need a very significant shareholding.
That would imply the board is competent and knows what's best in how to run airline.

I'm not an expert but during the pandemic there should have been a clean out of executives to reduce the burden on the airline not experienced staff that are an integral part of a successful airline. Now they are trying to get back on track and cannot replace the staff that have left and we can see all the issues that come with decision and the ones to suffer are the customers.

Yeah, the board has no idea and putting a the trust in Joyce is a poor move.

Lol a post on Reddit. Who cares?
Can you remember a time pre-COVID when Qantas was subject to a negative social media post practically every week filled with hundreds of complaints? Perhaps during AJ's shutdown of the airline. Apart from that, hard to pick any period even remotely close to the current onslaught.

Let's do a sample:

Search Reddit between 2000 and 2019: site:reddit.com qantas - Google Search

1 complaint: Qantas points are a con.

Search Reddit between 2020 and 2023: site:reddit.com qantas - Google Search

Top posts:
- When did Qantas become this bad?
- Qantas - an Australian institution (lamenting its downfall)
- What is the deal with Qantas points? (complaining they're a scam)
- Would you travel with Qantas again? (complaining how bad they've become)
- So are Qantas points worthless now?

The brand has been trashed and I'm yet to see a turnaround in public sentiment — quite the opposite.

Indeed, that's the whole point of the letter — to try to con the public into thinking Qantas is back to its best lol.

It doesn't.
A board may be competent or not. Its power is derived from the shareholders and not necessarily a competency test per se

To spill a board you need shareholder power. It's a vote - one way is to amass shares in order to have enough votes to cause a spill.

Obviously the current CEO has Board support and I imagine the Board is comfortable with support from the shareholders. While people might have reasons to want a spill of the CEO and Board positions, without shareholder support, it won't happen.

To fundamentally change the company, you would need to put up (and risk) lots of $$$ In a takeover.

Well it was my working theory... but now I investigate. Profile definitely has AU address (I receive my physical cards in the mail).

View attachment 315751

Interesting I get all the other major emails (I got the status support ones etc, which seems to be in contravention to the list above). It's just any email that's specifically gone only to AU residents, I never got. I seem to have got all the others. I don't think I've looked at this list in 15 years.
Well so many of them have "News" in the options who would know. I would suspect MAYBE you didn't get it because you aren't subscribed to the top one - ie the monthly newsletter, points balance thingy etc. That's possibly the category they used for this email. I can't be sure of course, but it would seem to be a likely source - "Our latest news and offers"

I would certainly personally keep that subscription myself than say news from partners. There's also "information about your account" - which seems vague - and why not included in the main email category (that includes expiring points?). seems way too many categories there.. and I would think any information about one's account should be sent regardless. I mean what an easy way for them to get out of something "You didn't know we were changing the T&C of your account? Oh you opted out of the emails...." hmmm

but anyway. just some thoughts....

I see the Financial Review has a piece out on Alan Joyce's Apology Tour.

A key takeaway from the article:
A key difference this time is that the public no longer trusts anything that Joyce or the company says.

It seems like folks and the media are catching on to the fact that the inmate is running the asylum! 😂

Noticed a new advert on tv this arvo re QF and EK tie up, so those speculating EK was going to end partnership would appear to be wrong.

I really didn't picture RooFlyer as a reddit user, but there you go.... 🤣

I've conquered reddit (whatever that is 🤪) now just call me Joe Aston .... and the national press 🤣. Dear Qantas is really smelling all over ...

Peeps can use this to get around the paywall and enjoy the article

Here is Joyce conceding that his main soundbite last winter – that Qantas’ shocking unreliability was really only as bad as its international peers – was an incredibly insensitive one and expressing cheap empathy with his customers for how cough it must’ve felt to be offered it. Can they have another $50 voucher with that?

Now that things are peachy on the operational front, Joyce has noticed people “talking to me less about flight delays and more about higher fares. The two are related. In order to make our operations more reliable, we had to reduce our flights to give us more buffer … Less supply and lots of demand meant fares went up.”

Stand and applaud yet another masterclass in blame externalisation, revel in the audacity of Joyce’s attempt to renounce his own agency. The fares just went up. It was outside of my control. Egregious price-gouging just happened.

I couldn't say it better, :) so I'll leave it to the professionals.

Also what the hell does Atranomical mean?

..and why am I the first to bring that up? Doesn't seem many people are taking much notice of Reddit.

Am I the only person who hasn't received this famed email?

I usually get at least 2 QF emails a day so I assume it's not a settings issue.
I suspect the same roaches that are keeping my QFF points from posting are the ones that are preventing that message to be sent to all QFF members. Perhaps Uncle Alan should invest the $1000 in upgrading the server. That 1990s Digital VAX System is barely keeping up now! 😂

No you are not the only one. I didn’t either.

It seems also the title of this thread may be very misleading as I am led to believe from teading a previous post “trust us” does not actually appear in the email.

Nor “letter” - as many have referred to. Not sure the last time I had snail mail from QF? Don’t really expect it from any org these days - but possibly the 100 anniversary WP smart tags I requested….

Yes very very misleading indeed. OP got an email but called it a letter, and just to confuse things (and apparently a few AFFers) further, he used "trust us" in the title of his post as an ironic emphasis, not a direct quotation from the body of the email. But as the AFF fact checking team has cleared this up, we can all now relax and look forward to the exciting developments QF has in store for us!
