QF1 from SIN diversion to Baku, Azerbaijan (GYD)

From what I’ve heard, the bottles were fired. They cannot be replenished in situ, so the aircraft will be ferried home.

Thinking about this a bit. Whilst the claim was made that it was an intermittent warning, that doesn't quite ring with the way the ECAM works. Basically, for the bottles to have been fired, the ECAM has displayed, and remained for long enough for the actions to be carried out. ECAM's logic has it simply disappear if whatever triggered it is removed. Once the bottle(s) are fired, I wouldn't consider the sensors to be all that reliable, as they may be affected by the retardant itself.

I cant seem to find any reaction from pax arriving in Heathrow. Surely there must be some Karen's complaining about the 'disgraceful' way they have been treated and demanding refunds and lifetime platinum status?

Would be skeletal news staffing over Christmas, and sadly "bad news gets views" is the mantra, so assuming most people were happy, or just got the hell out of there (to realise public transport doesn't run in London on Christmas Day, oh and then there's the transport strikes, and wow isn't it cold, and.....).

Relatively positive coverage here for what was done. Not withstanding the obvious frustration for those delayed.

If "firing bottles" affects the sensors with retardant, does it also leave any evidence on luggage ?

I’m not sure what they use in cargo holds of aircraft.
Suspect it is a dry powder, in which case a residue may remain

If ABE dry powder, can be cleaned with a bit of rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol from Bunnings.

Halon used in aircraft engines but aren’t they bad for the ozone layer?

the bottles were fired
Are the retardant sprayed from the ceiling?

QF VH-OQH still in GYD. Whatever the issue, it is taking some time to address. The 388 out of service for 3 days already. I hope no other technical issues with the 388 fleet as I am sure the remainder will be stretched until OQH is back in SYD.

I wonder how passengers travelled to their final destination after landing at LHR. There's no public transport on Christmas day.
