When I searched for flights to make a booking this weekend, I noticed that an A380 is scheduled to operate QF81 on Saturdays and QF82 on Sundays from 15 July until 28 October - "subject to government and regulatory approval"

Thanks for that heads up - I’ll need to update some seat requests!

Yep - just checked, and we’re moved from the 333 to the 388 on one flight SYD-SIN, in August. Inbound wasn’t a Sunday, so no change there (yet). The outbound departure time also moved to 1155 vs 1150, but with the same arrival time. I wonder if that will end up being ‘code’ for the 388 departures.

Cheers,
Matt.

When did you book out of curiosity? I was searching yesterday and managed to find reward seats on 5 August thanks to the upgauge...

Yes the flights to be operated by A380 have all been retimed in both directions...

In addition to QF81 and QF1, there is even another (one-off?) SYD-SIN flight on 6 and 16 August in the timetable scheduled to be operated by an A380:

Hi, anyone know why the qf81 service is changing to an A380 from July 15 until end of October (saturdays only)? the current daily service is on an a330 but (after the end of October this route switches to the Finnair wet lease Aircraft (daily). When are the remaining A380s returning? Thanks

Confirmed! i was able to book a first reward on QF81 going out in sept, and bus reward QF82 coming back in Oct.

New customer enhancement??.... in both cases, my mel-syd legs are not in bus. Going up to connect to first reward, qf econ. and coming back after bus leg, only 2 jq flights offered, the 2nd 5 hours after landing.

I called premium number twice.... 15min on hold, 2nd time 3 min.... to request a single seat be released. no seat for you. This is even though there is a both econ and bus rewards sitting there if I book separately. First person said there was no rewards, i would have to used 100% points. hang up (maybe i dis not have hobart?) . Second person said she did not have seat available to release.

Is this new enhancement? Precovid, i am certain all my award bookings thru sydney included dom bus leg as part of the international zone reward?

While i was jumping up and down on the couch at the success of a QF reward booking (never mind first), every QF interaction seems to be more than underwhelming these days. (rest of weekend was booking SQ rewards vietnam, bangkok, istanbul vienna..... great fun!!!)

As soon as these qf points are used up........
