QFF Ideas & Suggestions

I'd personally like to see consistant snack and beverage runs on international sectors. I'm aware there is a self serve bar avail in the A380, but on some flights you get a staff member go up and down the asile handing out cups of water, or other drinks along with biscuits etc etc.

This only seems to happen on every 1/3 flights, it takes 5 minutes to do. And can save people getting out of their seats all the time.

I've been following this thread and hadnt really been able to come up with anything new that wasnt already in the board..... until now.

One thing that i really miss in the Qantas Economy service is the pre-dinner drink after we have leveled out.

The first time i got one on my trip to LHR a few years ago, it was like coming home at the end of a long week, grabbing a bevvy, taking a deep breathe and chilling whilst watching a movie.

I had missed it in the service over the last 12 or so months and was reminded on my BA flight from LAX to LHR a few days ago just how good it is.

Seems to quell the hoarding masses in cattle too :p which cant be a bad thing.

I would love to see it bought back.

+1. I've only 2 QF flights in Y this year and one of those was at breakfast time. On t'other, BRM-PER, pre-dinner drinks were served on a 717. Unexpected and yes, a relaxing way to kick off the flight.

- Flexibility with carry-on baggage allowances (again more of a wish here - realise the practical issues)

I'm glad you suggested this, it is also one of my wishes. Obviously, there are practical issues and also people pushing the limits. But in my usual situation I'm forced to carry 2 bags (only) that actually take more space than if I could carry 3 items. I would carry a normal 105 cm bag and then put my other 2 items into a larger bag. When it comes to stowing on board the 2 smaller items are much easier to fit in than the one large bag containing the 2 smaller items.

But still a major wish that I can't imagine would be at all practical to implement.

Red Roo,

Great to see you still hanging around :)

Hoping this thread is generating helpful content for you :)

I got worried today when I updated the QFF iPhone app and it said there were "enhancements". x_x

If catching a PER-MEL/SYD flight the afternoon/night before flying MEL/SYD-AKL on the OMG flight let us check our bags all the way through.

Its not a security issue, even the yanks / poms who let us do it and they are far more paranoid.

As others have said here, priority boarding is a listed benefit, but is rarely offered (and when it is offered, isn't enforced)

I have to go to SAN in Feb11 and am trying to workout a way to not fly QF. I have WP, PG and LTG and thus have no reason to fly QF again before my anniversary date. With the ongoing lack of customer service and loyalty being shown, Virgin is looking much better to business passangers like myself

I feel the same way. I am WP, have already qualified to retain same for next year and am booking a SYD-LAX flight in J class for February. I am very tempted to try V Australia. I flew them to Fiji a few months ago in Y and they were great. I am one of those people feeling unloved and taken for granted by Qantas.

So how about that priority boarding hey? It seems like they now do priority boarding for non status pax.

Flew MEL-CBR this evening and it took a turn in the totally opposite direction.

Instead of doing general boarding, or even doing priority boarding it started off like "we'll now be boarding from the rear starting with rows 20 through to 25". I've only ever encountered that before when it has been preceded with an announcement along the lines of "business class, gold and platinum frequent flyers may board at their leisure" but such an announcement was not made today.

That really annoyed me as I was seated in row 4 and could just tell that I was going to board and all the overhead bin space would be taken.

So I just boarded anyway... with the NB and below pax for the last rows.

I'll say it right now - that had better not become the norm.

Boarding from the rear to the front makes sense for shear efficiency, but you are right about the overhead lockers. Perhaps the on-board FA could do a bit of subtle policing - like if they are boarding rows 21-30 then only the lockers above those seats are open with the rest closed. The FA could stand in row 20 ensuring compliance and then move down to the next section opening lockers as they go. Not much effort for a far more orderly boarding experience.

Now let me at the T2 taxi queue!

In my experience that is quite a common occurrence - I simply board immediately when that happens (as you did).

Never been challenged ...

I've seen this a few times.

I have seen this neat trick on Air Asia and Jetstar Asia where they call rows 1 and 2 to board first!

Yep, QF510 yesterday morning was the same.

Priority boarding for domestic flights might as well be taken off the benefits list. It's a bit of a running joke as far as I can see.

Incidentally, I noticed on that flight yesterday that while the CSM was giving the speil about putting larger items in the overheads, smaller items under the seat in front, he also made made a point of saying (about 3 times) that "items that are not able to be safely stowed will be offloaded". First time I've heard that. Has anyone else noticed that?

I don't see why QF have not implemented a Priority AAccess type arrangement like AA.

Have the sign, "Priority AAccess" to the Left "Main Cabin" to the right. Invite J to board, then elites, then general boarding, with any J/elites rocking up late able to use the priority aaccess queue.

Cheap way of doing it (requires a sign only) and works brilliantly in the USA. Ensures those flying up front or with status get that oh-so-valuable overhead bin space.

Signs also making it easier for crew. Pax can't use the excuse they didn't hear or understand. That said I think culturally we're likely to see everyone behind rush the empty queue (doesn't appear to occur internationally however) and I'll take a guess that overhead bin space is slightly more competitive in the USA ;)

Probably worth QF running a trial of it at least.
