QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Quick one.. what fare codes on expert flyer does everyone suggest I need to look out for? I’m Platinum looking to travel early Jan to London via almost any route 😂
In addition to what @Ade posted above as a WP you can request seats to be converted. For business it is I and for first A.

Thank you @Matt_01 - copy paste issues, this is what happens when distracted :) I was talking to a QF agent on the phone today and he was mentioning that class T (Disc. PE) can be requested to be converted to a reward seat as well. I have updated my post accordingly.

Is this something that Hobart will do without prompting? I spent 45 minutes this morning attempting SYD-LHR in May 2024 and all I have got is SYD-LAX-LHR for a lot of hours and points. Sue was great, attempted multiple routes but that was the best we could find for my specific dates.
wondering if I try this tack on a new call.

If you can see that there is inventory in the right fare buckets, then it could be worth an ask - but there is really no guarantees here. For WP status, if the computer says no, it's a no. With P1 status there is an additional review that could occur, which may be linked to the release from higher fare buckets they can access, as well (e.g. 'I' & 'D' class for international Business, and not only 'I' class).

Cheers,
Matt.

You may have to prompt, when I call up about seat release after the pleasantries I just normally start with "Would mind seeing if we can seats released"

First time requesting award seats release. Looking for early January 2024 from USA - AU. I had some options with various flights on 2 days, only one was available. So success,, will be flying 3xJ DFW-SYD-MEL. A day earlier than preference but as it is in school holidays, happy to have snagged anything.
Brilliant to get THREE J seats, let alone in Jan. That may say something for QF bookings ex-DFW, but definitely a huge win for you! Enjoy the flights!

Got 1x business seat on QF10 LHR-MEL in April 2024. Showing I9

Denied both business and PE for QF9 MEL-LHR across a few dates in May 2024. Showing I0 and T0.

It was a weird call - he put me on hold quickly, said he could get one way or not the other, took my card number and hung up so quickly I didn’t catch the PNR.

An hour later I had an email with the PNR saying payment had been denied. Called back with my card again and it ticketed and had points deducted within an hour.

Top notch service in the end and will keep an eye on ExpertFlyer for some discount seats to open up for the return.

On the phone with QF Premium now, trying to get 1x Y SYD-CBR for 04JUN23. Realise it is too late to request. Call answered with no waiting time. By accent guessing CPT. The agent mentioned she is unable to request reward seats on any flights for 04JUN23.

From experience with HBA/AKL, I'm told that as long as there is Red-E-Deal fares available on a flight, WP can request seats to be released. I'm only asking for 1x Y ... so, I'm thinking to HUCA ....

There needs to be 'N' class availability in domestic Economy to request seats. Unfortunately, there are also a few more Red e-Deal fares above 'N' class so looking for that on the website is not a reliable indicator.

None of the SYD-CBR flights on 4 June have 'N' Class at the moment.

I've tried a few times over the past few weeks to release 4 I class, then 3, then 2, then 1 over multiple days and nothing. There are +9 I fares available and the bot keeps coming back with no, this is to Singapore. I've been quite surprised that they haven't said yes to at least 1.

Hi is anyone able to see what fare buckets are available on QF11 Syd to LAX on Aug 7th and 8th. Have snagged one J class classic reward, but looking for a second (as I really like my husband!) Thanks

Hi, do you need to have actually made and paid for the actual booking before making the request or can you do it before the ticketing?

You cannot make the booking when there are no Award seats in the class requested being offerred, so you need to call first.

One caveat is that if you already have an award booking for the flight in a lower class then your chances may slightly increase. If so it would be due to some dialog I have come across that the total number of award seats redeemed for a flight may be capped and with this that figure would not increase.
