QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Surprised about the YVR & BNE denials. Thought they'd be routes with somewhat low J class uptake. Do the dates coincide with height of school holiday travel?
Yes, at the end of school holidays so I suspect that's why. For our holidays this year our requests for LAX-BNE were denied but we did manage to get LAX-SYD

Happy preferred result for me today (P1) looking to go to ATL in September, my preferred route MEL-DFW(-ATL).

Asked VIP Team for J reward sea in mid September:
for MEL-DFW rejected by bot, MEL-SYD-DFW (rejected by bot on two days, approved on an earlier day than desired). I also had the option of MEL-SYD-LAX(F) being released (to then figure out getting to ATL, but this was my least preferred option).

Anyway having got approval for MEL-SYD-DFW (it was showing I2, while MEL-DFW nonstop D9I0) I decided to roll the dice and go for a manual review on the nonstop. The reason being the earlier (well hopefully!) scheduled arrival into DFW thus giving better options onward to ATL to not arrive super late.

5 hours later I noticed my booking had gone from "On Request" to confirmed. Amazing. So yes, they approved MEL-DFW on the date I wanted. VIP were then able to quickly add on AA DFW-ATL (in Y alas, but it's a short flight so no biggie) with a nice 2:45 connection and protection of same booking if things go belly up.

Really happy result. Ticket issued, points deduced and everything within around 30 minutes. Easily sorted by good agents with a minimum of fuss.

Happy camper.

QF1 Sin-LHR for 2 first seats, EF showing F6, A6 for flight but rejected on request. Call went to overseas centre, is it worth trying to get through to Hobart and having another crack? QFF Platinum btw.

My understanding from reading this thread is that it's difficult for even P1s to get seats released on Qantas' LHR flights. Add on to that you're requesting F & at the start of holidays, and I'm not all that surprised. No harm in trying again with someone from HBA though.

Does anyone know what the actual policy is regarding requests for family members who aren't travelling with you?
When we next catch up I will share my experiences with you. It will be from a long term P1 perspective as I have been able to get flights for my wife and daughter and my parents that some would say are impossible to get.

My experience is that it doesn’t matter if they are traveling with me or not.
As long as I request the seat via my account it’s treated the same as if I was traveling.

Was that 3 F on PER-LHR in July?

With some SCs posting, just hit WP for the first time. Are there known hours for the hobart call centre, just so I can increase my odds by calling at the right time?

Honestly, probably not, so it really depends on your threshold for pain and how much you want the extra SC ;)
Had an interesting outcome last year a few days prior to departing on a classic redemption with a U Classic redemption LHRSYD on EK metal. Managed to find an F redemption out of Gatwick back to Sydney instead. Quite possible that if they know that the cabin has inadequate bookings or poised to be confirmed upgrades from business that they will release F Classic outright redemptions at the last minute ~48-72 hours prior.
