QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I had 2 x J released last year for Sept 2023 on QF2 LHR-SYD, but for 2024 I've tried on several occasions for 1 x F or 1 x J with A5-9 and I9 with bot-says-no. Not in "peak" months either so I'm wondering if things have tightened up ... or if there are just too many requests nowadays.

So just had a win! Called back as got email from qantas about my seat release request. Long story short the previous agent had got my departing & arrival city around the wrong way, which mind you was approved. Anyway new agent I spoke to was excellent from premium call centre (team leader doing overtime). I had a couple of legs on rtw reward booking to finalise + itinerary had to be split. Worked with me & got 4 x J released end of Jan from HKG to Syd was originally going Bangkok - tokyo - sydney economy & another 2 x J HkG to Syd in July released for a return from Europe. Couldn't speak more highly of the agent, When it works it's fantastic! BTW I've been platinum for 36hrs, making it work hard..

QF25 (SYD-HND overnight) on Dec 14 - approved
QF26 (HND-SYD daytime) on Dec 23 - approved
QF60 (HND-SYD overnight) on Dec 23 - declined, "Allocation Exceeded"

I really wanted an overnight on the way back but oh well 🤷‍♀️. Surrounding dates that worked for me didn't have space in the I fare class. Was thinking of just buying a daytime PE cash ticket, but everyone wanted way to much. At least with a QF U ticket I get 48 status credits :)

Correct. If a particular flight is rejected by the droid it leaves a remark in the booking advising that particular flight is over allocation. It's specific to the flight, not the person.
Interesting. I've had Hobart tell me that I can always call back and see if the answer is different at a later date. Is that, therefore, incorrect?

I would think if it was marked over allocation on Monday then on Tuesday 1 x U class cancels, the allocation flag for that flight would be removed, hence the call back at a later date option.

7 Aug 2024 LAX -SYD J
Nothing on 7th being Friday - Hobart lady said no chance, everyone wants to be back for Monday - so had choices of 8th, 9 and 10.
Interestingly, there is a QF18 which is a 787 leaving LAX an hour after QF11. Might open some more seats?

You can definitely do that - a new request will be raised. The "over allocation" response is point in time. If there has been changes to the things the droid is looking at (for example, additional fare class availability opening up) then the droid can give a different response the next time round.

The droid can give different responses based on status as well - as the thresholds for droid approval are a bit lower for P1's.

So first win, and now I don't know what to do so after the hive minds advice.
Called and got released 2 x J for HKG-SYD in mid Feb. Agent on the phone couldn't confirm immediately but it has now stated confirmed in my app. Do I call back and pay the associated fees and taxes now?

AA appear to have dropped some reward seats today, definitely some SYD-LAX on some August dates when I was looking earlier today.

the Airbus 388 services have the greatest number of J seats - would have thought statistically that they were the best chance - eg QF 11 SYD-LAX.
