QF's Asia announcement

I got an ASA booked that was affectes by this change. I was told I still need award availability as ASA is not considered to be a revenue ticket. ( this was the canning of SIN-LHR)

They have rebooked me from U to I on an ASA that was affected so I would call back to check the information

Pretty sure that policy is for "Paid" flights. Award flights are different and they are requiring availability.

That's what I was thinking - but on the other hand they have a 081 ticket and the policy doesn't appear to make a distinction between how the tickets were brought about ($/points) merely that tickets had been issued.

But if you look at it the other way, Qantas took the points and $1000 worth of 'taxes' back in October and through Qantas' changes we are now being told that we have to suck it up and put up with the award availability 6 months hence (and only 2 months before the date of travel (i.e. severely limited)) - which is pretty ordinary. I don't think that it is unreasonable, once tickets have been issued to reasonably expect that QF will get you to where you originally booked (on their planes - the original booking was QF5 SYD-FRA, it's not as if this is for say an obscure intra South American route on LAN) on or about the date you booked, in about the class of service you booked, without being asked to stump up GBP300 extra because Qantas have cancelled the flights and can only find you award seats to LHR.

I'm sorry, I know I'm just having a rant - but I'm just over wasting hours rejigging arrangements then being given the total run around by Qantas in relation to what I would have thought would be a simple issue. It's got to the point now where I'm ready to give up cancel the whole lot and not spend my evenings and weekends trying to constantly rebook a holiday.

I promise that I'll shutup now :)

Yes it does, down the bottom under award tickets!

Qantas must reacommodate you under their own policy. It makes no difference whether it is a revenue or award ticket, which is stated in their policy. The classes available is their problem, they should have fixed your booking sooner if they wanted it to be cheaper for them.

Stand your ground.

On almost every significant event disruption/change Qantas lists award tickets as having the exact same rights as revenue bucket, I would not get off the phone until I got exactly what I paid for, it is up to them to re-accommodate you, not for them to find their most convenient solution and then expect you to fill in the gaps!

In this case as previously posted, that is not the case, with Classics being singled out!

That is true...

Passengers who are travelling on Qantas & Partner Classic Award tickets have already been reaccommodated onto an alternate option. Qantas & Partner Classic Award customers are also entitled to the same options and conditions as listed above provided any travel rebooked or rerouted is made on to Qantas and Qantas Frequent Flyer Partner Airlines only (e.g. British Airways) and any travel booked on a partner airline service is subject to redemption seat availability only. Classic Award tickets cannot be retained in credit.
Was the OP on classic or ASA?

You are quite right - it does - I'd missed that.

I have been a goose. Back to the drawing board... It's still highly irritating because Qantas were happy to take my points and 'taxes' and now are asking for more money to get what we (not unreasonably) thought we had secured in October.

It essentially means that a classic award is little more than a 'maybe' booking - which I think is pretty harsh. We just want what we booked (and spent so much time making plans on the back of)... Qantas 1 : TripleB 0

Regarding that - if TripleB decided to cancel his classic awards booking entirely - I know that this is a dumb question, but I assume he gets most of the QFF points refunded (minus a cancellation fee) but what happens with the fuel fines and taxes that he paid? I assume the taxes are refundable, but do QF get to pocket all the other fees/fuel fines etc or are they refundable?

These T&C's are huge but don't mention the "cash component" of a classic international award and what cash component is or isn't refundable.

By the way TripleB - my attempt at contacting Red Roo on your behalf through a PM seems to have gone unanswered, or at least Red Roo did not reply to me anyway, so no help there sorry. Let me know if Red Roo has contacted you or not. ;)

I believe the cash component is required to be fully refunded as travel has not occurred, therefore no taxes and charges payable.

if you cancel because QF cannot provide suitable flights everything is refunded - every dollar and there is no assistance fee or cancellation fee.

In my case, BA cancelled an afternoon flight out of MXP this July putting the family on an early evening flight, I was able to cancel the booking and obtain full refund.

Will call QF again regarding my existing bookings. With all these changes I have rebooked a total of 6 flights!

QF's email to myself regarding our PER-HKG-PER bookings stated we'd get xx_ points essentially for being stuffed around. These points were due into our accounts last week. Was anyone else promised this and, if so, have you received them as yet?

xx_ being a certain number for Y and another number for J (thinking 10k and 20k). As we're flying up in Y and back in J I have no idea what we're up for but we're yet to see any.

Youy should get the points for the stuff up by the end of the month , thats what they told me .

It was 8k for economy, and 12k for business, and is being paid due to additional travel time.
