QF's Asia announcement

TBH this bloke is only going to be a hindrance.......

But that suggests that there is something that can be done. There isn't so we may as well go down swinging. And embarrassing the heck out of Qantas.

As I mentioned in a earlier post, looks like my PER- Hongkong ret in Aug now goes via Syd, I booked a direct flight 7hrs from Per as my wife getting over the big C and was going to be a nice break for the 2 of us, now this is going to be 17hrs, what can be done ?

Not much. Fly via SIN maybe. If they'll change you to that option.

The best I'm looking at is 11 hours up from 6 hours. Later arrival into Adelaide and earlier departure from Singapore. Just sucks.

I can't get into our booking anymore so will call Qantas tomorrow and get it sorted. Well, a flight back.

Yep a great improvement in our connection options.

There goes my chance to try QF F lounge for the first time using QFi domestic flights ....

We've managed to get on QF077 PER-SIN connecting to CX734 SIN-HKG, tight connection but last time they had a golf cart waiting for us to take us to the other gate. Return is CX739 and QF078. Try getting onto that.

He loves flogging a dead horse;)

The other story here is axing QF5 and 6 will mean the end of 2-3 B744's.

Also with PER losing so many A330 flights does this free any A332/333 up for other destinations such as QF3 and 4 the much despized HNL B763 Intl. flights?

Why does QF need additional A380's and new B787's?

Axing is getting media coverage here and Nick Xenophon getting involved. Can't believe Qantas screwed Adelaide like this. Not one International flight yet SQ have two daily.

As much as we hate it QF are a private business, it's not like senator Xenophon can really do much

Call QF and state you want the direct CX option if not an option connecting through SIN.

Leave the bump me up out as that will get you no where but I agree it's a rubbish situation.

What can be done apart from not a lot?

I am booked PER to HKG on April 26. Still showing as direct flight. Is that right? I need to know because I have a separate booking to fly to Europe that night from HKG.

The A380s will be arriving in time to retire some 747s which will becoming a bit long in the tooth by then.

The 787s looks like they are investigating some expansion options with them (and possibly some of the later deliveries will be aimed at replacing some A330s)

And a very interesting article on afr.com (presumably in tomorrow's print edition).

Paraphrasing:

In retaliation for the way QF handled the EK announcement, about which BA is "furious" it has told QF it won't reinstate the code-shares from Asia to London... Talks are continuing on whether BA will continue to put its codeshare on QF's Asia to Australia services...

- I can't see BA having any option on the latter, can't see it codesharing with SQ, and the only other option would be flying to KUL instead of SIN

Red Roo, if you are reading this please tell your superiors that they had better have a new plan for Adelaide, because for once it is not just Nick Xenaphon who is pissed off, I work with many people who travel to SEA for work and they all agree this is absurd and shows no commitment to Australia's 5th largest city. If Qantas doesn't start investing in more aircraft/frequencies instead of decimating the country to (attempt to) serve the east coast then they will start loosing that precious FF base they so desperately rely on. I am currently thinking of a holiday in Asia later this year, and for the first time in quite a while I navigated away from qantas.com.au as the timing and options just do not work. In case you had not realised very few people like starting the day at 4 am just to use your 'enhanced' Asia network.....
