QFs inflight entertainment system the worlds best ?

I have noticed this for as long as I can remember but it seems that Qantas considers that its inflight entertainment system is the worlds best.
It has this written on the home screen once you turn on the TV. I've noticed it on some domestic flights and also the 333 on SYD/CGK, MEL/SIN and SYD/SIN.

Is there even a single person that agrees with this lol ?
Or has it been proven through some Skytrax poll like the other "worlds best" categories etc ?

The physical unit by Panasonic might be the best in the world...

I think its more a reflection of what QF considers the "World", at least the parts they go to these days.

The IFE in the older 330's is getting close to it's use by date.

The Panasonic system is quite good, but content also forms a large part of the quality of the system. I don't think the QF system can compete with the likes of ICE...

That said it is probably the most user friendly UI I have come across and at least the films available are usually of quality.

The Panasonic system is by far the best as well but as pointed out QF are hardly the only ones using it!

Agree the overall system, and Qantas's skin is worlds best.
I find the selection of Current Release movies to be pretty good, and find their radio programming has better variety than most.

but for the overall amount of content, I dont think you can beat SQ

Whilst I am normally a shrinking violet on most issues I have to say that my IFE is without a doubt the world's best. With over 90 days worth of contemporary and classical music, more than 30 books, two days of radio podcasts, over 100 movies and more than 500 hours of TV, with subtitles if required, it is unsurpassed.

on the Q streaming 767s i can't even hear it without a lot of effort using the QF supplied headsets. I usually bring my own but forgot last week and on 3 flights with Q streaming I had to sit there pushing the headphone up to my ear to hear and even then I couldn't make everything out with the aircraft noise in the background.

It's certainly the worlds best Shame the headphone cable barely reaches the player too - whoops.

Mind you, which airline would pop up and say "We have the 7th Best IFE" or similar. Having flown mostly CX and QF on international in the last 4 years, QF was fine and the English productions matched CX. But must admit my ignorance of the rest of the competition.

Yes my original comment was mostly a poke at QF's timetables, rather then they IFE. I don't mind the QF system, although I'm quite fussy about what I watch so on any airlines I tend to only watch one or two movies and a couple of TV episodes at most. Daylight hours are good for working, and night hours are good for sleeping.

In my opinion ICE is better - the ability to bring up the flight plan without closing a video is nice. I just hate the intro video they play at 100 dB every flight - with the exception of that one on-screen talent.

But IFEs in general could be so much better. Top of my list is more flight information, including telemetry! I would be entertained for hours looking at real-time info on attitude, fuel usage, auto pilot, all that good stuff.

That and being able to synchronise a movie with a neighbour.

If you want to talk better IFE, how about linking your FF profile to the IFE, that way you can have a pre-selected list of songs, video continuing from points where you left them off, selected reading material etc..and if it was implemented well it could be used system wide across the fleet.

IME, certainly in the top 10, but IMO no way the apparent 'Worlds Best"..
Really wonder what else was in the 'basket" of comparisons.
I find QF IFE slow & clunky with a lack of world movies.
I'd rate SQ & EK equal tie as 1st then CX... etc..

Well they probably were among the best when they launched and a lot of other airlines still had movies on a loop

Again...it has been ages that QF still pick the poor movies choice and most of them aren't new. I don't know why QF has got that bad taste movies. Emirates' ICE and movies are far better than Qantas cos EK has got lots of latest movies (while the new movies at the cinema are available). I wish QF should learn from EK inflight entertainment.

Ipad is terrible... limited movie choice and next month (first week) - it still the same as last month. I can't hear anything from the ipad as it's too soft.

Funny, on return flight, I was surprised that no one was able to re-charge the ipad's battery for the return flight. I cannot imagine how the ground staff has got time to charge all the ipad quickly. Flight attendant spent an hour to check the ipad's battery after take off, tried to find another ipads for them, carried lots of ipads to the galley then the meal was served later.

The iPads are charged en masse inside a specially constructed charging cabinet that has the form factor of a galley cart.
