QP members diverted from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Complete - "Next Year"

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

A lounge constantly at capacity still isn't a premium experience.

What was the wait to get a drink at the bar?

I was there at the start of the month and there was no wait for a drink (about 8pm). I only had one though - wanted to savour the onboard F champage.

This is not good - goes to show that if you want a decent service, you either have to be WP as a minimum or fly F. Anything less = game over.

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

Maybe the answer lies in the fact that the lounge needs to make provisions for incoming OW passengers. Even though the lounge is not at capacity right now, as in 100 people when capacity is 400, it soon will be, and as a OW lounge, they need to accomodate all OW passengers until the capacity limit is reached, then no one else can enter, until someone departs.

Its a temporary issue anyway...I'm going thru LAX in August, if they won't let me in as OWE, I'll take the F&B vouchers and go find a bar to hang in. The new part of LAX is quite nicely really compared to how it was.

Maybe I'll slow my trip to LAX by killing time at In N Out or a low class Mexican cantina on Sepulvada, chilling with my homies:cool:

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

F and J should have allocated space. For economy pax regardless of whether status or paid QC, first in best dressed

So you would exclude a P1 travelling in Y who may spend more than 50k-75k pa on QF flights to allow a QP member in who may spend less than 2k pa. Do you think that is a good business decision?

QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Ne...

*Dons flame suit*
I think that QF has made the only realistic decision that they could implement in light of the overcrowding in the lounge until the F lounge re-opens.
The execution of this has so far been a failure IMO.
The alternate options explored and communication to QP members has been an absolute failure.
In that respect at least QF have the chance to put things right.

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

I have been a member of this website now for a few years. In years gone by, members who no longer actively contribute used to say that:

The first class passenger lounges should be for first class passengers; and

The business class passenger lounges should be for business class passengers.

This was to avoid over crowding and all that would come from opening lounges up etc.

I think having read this that there is some truth.

Perhaps there should be:

First Class passenger lounges for 1st class pax

Business Class passenger lounges for business class pax

General "premium" or whatever lounges for status/Qantas Club/ etc passengers who are travelling in economy class/es

(Please no lectures on the one world agreements)

I am just throwing these ideas out there for discussion.

That's what I've been saying for years! Three lounges for international - F, J and Status (which, for QF, would include QC).

Commercially, I dont see the numbers adding up (guessing).

There are no F seats to BNE, so one of the four daily flights no one can use the lounge. Also, didn't QF reconfig the 380's a few years ago. Each lounge would have to be staffed accordingly and the real estate in LAX (or other airports) is not cheap and probably not available. Times have changed in the last few years with QF and with the airports that serve them.

Maybe be back in the champagne and suits era of 30 yrs ago...

LOL QF and F don't really go together...these days.

This is basically what LH has at FRA. Business lounges for business class passengers, Senator lounges for Star Alliance high elites, and a First Class lounge for those traveling in LH First (there are a few other caveats in access but this is basically the structure, those caveats are relatively unimportant to the discussion here).

BA also has a similar setup de facto at LHR T5. BA has a J lounge for J passengers and OWS members, but also has both an F lounge and the Concorde Room. Since the Concorde Room is for BA's F passengers only, and no other airline flies F out of LHR T5, the F lounge effectively functions as a status lounge for OWE members, as any passengers flying F would have access to the Concorde Room.

Demographics. Germany population of 80m, UK 52m+ Wales, Scotland, N Ireland compared to Australia. There is just not the people nor traffic (including transit) to warrant this, are only transit passengers are coming and going from NZ or S. Pacific Islands. Nor the $$ spending to justify, that is why F is being phased out by QF. What did Paul Keating call Australia back in 1990...

CCR accommodates elite status passengers and their guests no matter what class they fly. Including elites from other OW airlines. It is not restricted to F passengers.

I and the people getting rejected while I strolled into the CCR on my BA F ticket beg to differ ;). Only BA F passengers, or BA elites with a Concorde Room card are allowed to access the CCRs, and one needs 5000 TP with BA (no small feat) to get a CCR card. Those who can access are allowed a guest though. The setup is actually similar for BA at T7 at JFK as well in effect.

Oh I agree, I don't think the traffic warrants having the extra lounge at any of the Australian ports and I'm not advocating QF open a status lounge. Simply pointing out that some other places do have "status lounges" in effect.

When we were there last month sitting right at the desk waiting for the wheelchair for mrsdrron there were OWEs being sent to the F lounge.CCR was full.

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

Correct BA elites - no matter what class they fly. Same with CL and all the other OW equivalents.

I've taken my family of 5 into LHR CCR prior to LHR-MAD in J.......after flying F SYD-LHR......so certainly not restricted to F passengers only

Did you fly F on BA inbound to LHR? Inbound flyers in F are entitled to CCR access if continuing from LHR to another destination.

Inbound BA F gets CCR access.

BA elites limited to CCR lounge pass holders unless flying in F.

Correct. Again, certain status will get you access - don't need to be flying F + able to guest another in whatever class.....QFCL and other OW elites are also granted access with guesting rights.

CCR is not the exclusive domain of F passengers. Nothing to do with bog standard WP.......but status will get you access to The CCR.

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

They hope so.
Sadly I think that the board thinks they are brilliant.
So the board does not have any feedback from boards such as this one or the pieces that are written by financial commentators? Qantas is going downhill fast and these people on the board who are supposed to be professionals are sitting back waiting.

F and J should have allocated space. For economy pax regardless of whether status or paid QC, first in best dressed

Status will always get preference.

In fact at certain times status had more benefits than business class customers. Have you forgotten? The domestic business lounges and domestic lounges in general.

There are no partner elites entitled to CCR access, unless they are flying BA F. QFCL elites do not have access unless flying BA F.

Even status does not truly give access. BA simply gives those who have earned 5000 TP a CCR access card. They are BA Gold but that occurs at 1500 TP. In all other ways, they are still "merely" BA Gold even as a CCR card holder.

But we are getting way off topic, and the BA CCR at LHR is a rather mediocre F lounge in my opinion, give me the SYD or MEL QF F lounges any day over that lounge.
