QP Pizza - I've given it a good run, but my verdict is a thumbs down

... It is more akin to a traditional Napoli style pizza - a thinner crust with less topping - this is the sort I make for myself. ...
As I posted, it's reasonable in the middle; it's the outer limits that are not very palatable.

Seems like I'm the odd one out.

I'm a pizza fan. I like the middle best but then again, I quite enjoy the crunchy edges too. Don't mind it in the QP or the J louge either.

I'm anti-pie (but I'm not un-Australian). Never really enjoyed pies my entire life. Will only eat gourmet pies (I'm blaming this on a TV documentary about what goes into regular pies).

I have enjoyed the fish & chicken nuggets that PTH used to serve. I'm sure that I have had them at other places too.

Spring rolles were also good.

Dim sim (now I know what they were) I didn't enjoy and put them in the pie category.

The pizza falls down on consistency - it's a good idea poorly executed.

The party pies were consistent (9/10 times they were as they should have been), whereas the pizza is closer to 1/10, and is even more variable on how quicly you cna shove your way to the front of the queue.

Maybe they needed to bring it into line with the inconsistency Qantas is renowned for

What about the non fatties who want/like the pizza, pies or occasional Krispy Kreme :?:

Then they can go to the food court too ;). Haha jokes hence all the smileys. Apologies to the other person who was upset and offended.

Once a wise person said to me pizza is like sex, even when it's bad it's good...

Qantas have managed to prove this wise man wrong with their pizza...

I think the pizza's are a pretty poor attempt at a "gourmet/wood-fired" style pizza. Little/no toppings and a rock hard crust don't do it justice. QF must be getting them at rock bottom prices.

I don't mind the hot meals (hot dishes in the bain marie) that are on offer in the J Lounges at times (meatballs in Nap sauce, yummy), but there should be a sign letting patrons knows when they will be taking away the hot food. I have arrived sometimes mid afternoon (missed lunch at work and have welcomed the effort in the J Lounge), had a bowl of meatballs and rice, come back for another serve only to find that the hot bain-marie has been closed. A simple sign would be nice.

I guess you're referring to me .... not upset and offended - I can recognise an offensive comment without being offended.

LOL!

P.S Does anyone know who supplies QF with their pizza and do they actually supply any other companies?

Given they were described as "signature Italian wood fired pizzas", you just need to find who's signature is on them!

Agree and I miss the party pies along with the Ched biscuits.

I think it was a Mr A Nonee Mousse. ;)

Seeing Pizza Hut is now marketing "Stonefired Pizza Base Range (By Celebrity chef Aaron Harvie)", I have little confidence in those types of terms...

"Signature" dishes just mean they are distinctive of that brand, i.e. a signature dish of a restaurant is a dish that the restaurant specialises in and is unique to that restaurant. When you think of that dish, you think of that restaurant, too.

Of course, from the responses here it seems folly that anyone - including QF - would put their name against these pizzas...

Similar pizzas as Qantas are providing are easy to make - you need your dough rolled out, a spread of tomato paste, a sauce of some type (e.g. pesto) and a hot oven.

Allegedley a wood fired oven at that :rolleyes:

We actually buy Pane Toscano pizza bases (I have no affiliation with this company) as they are "wood fired" bases that you can add sauces/cheese to when I dont have the time to make the dough myself...
