QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

I'm an AsiaMiles member (not Marco Polo), and have transferred from both Amex Rewards, and Westpac Altitude. I much prefer a program where there are decent awards available rather than a rubbish program like QF where you can easily get points, but there are very few awards, and those that are available come with other challenges like very high YQ.
I cannot agree more. Planning a trip to eastern Europe (and maybe the US) September 2023. I have enough QFF points for 2 J seats one way and enough Krisflyer miles for 2 J seats the other way. I'm more than content that redeeming the Krisflyer miles will be painless (and cheaper) and I'll have plenty of flexibility. Stressing out already about how to use the QFF points. I can already see that I'll have to be very imaginative and fly into somewhere other than the preferred destination and then another flight to get to where we want to go. I know this will not make mrsramboflyer happy as she wants to spend as little time as possible in the air and avoid connections in places like Hong Kong and Japan during the cyclone season.
YQ?

There’s actually a dearth of award and decent J revenue flight options Jul thru Sep across all airlines.
Tell me about it, there was! but sometime in mid may it began drying rapidly to become almost non existent (for July)

I was eyeing off going to DUB in July - all in Y, as i am a peasant. Settled for CGK-DOH-DUB or BKK-DOH-DUB (why - because flights ex-Australia were gone and i would rather not layover in Singapore). I have plenty SQ points so getting to CGK or BKK is easy and cheap.

So, as i didnt know which flight i wanted, figured i will just book both, Qantas has free cancellation anyway. I go ahead and book CGK-DOH-DUB, and then immediately try BKK-DOH-DUB but not available. Turns out i must have got the last points seat on DOH-DUB.

Then the icing on the cake - i go to book BNE-SIN-CGK on SQ with a nice overnight layover and now the perfect connection SIN-CGK is no longer available, but i could still have got to BKK.

whats the old adage - if you see a points flight you want, grab it without delay :)

Having been looking at lots of options in July 2023 to Europe and even to Doha and nothing seems to come up in QFF for Qatar Airlines. I wonder if it has effectively ceased its partnership with Qantas considering it will soon align with Virgin Australia

How many days between now and the dates you are searching for?
I was searching from late June onwards. But only options always did not include Qatar. They included other airlines but never Qatar. When I have searched before Qatar always were an option on some days

Grabbed an Economy reward from Brisbane to Berlin via Doha in early November. Fingers crossed for a non-middle seat!
For anyone who has done BNE-DOH recently, how full have they been?

Definitely struggling to find QR availability of any sort using Qanta's multi-city tool - searches aren't even returning results. I was hoping to book reward seats in the coming weeks so this has me worried!

I keep coming up with errors if I search any flights to Doha.

Same here, coming up with zero J award on QR flights AUS-DOH or DOH-AUS right out until max days out.

It wont even show me options from SIN-DOH - comes up with erros or just not showing any QR flights at all, only AY,BA and QF

I'm thinking (hoping) it's just a Qantas website error......which is pretty standard!

Was working fine last night around 7pm but re-checked about 9 and errors ever since as soon as Doha is included in any search....

I'd say it's an issue with QF's search engine. I did a dummy search about an hour ago and got (sparse) availability showing for CDG-DOH-MEL. Did exactly the same search 5 minutes later and got the 500 (internal sever) error.

Just out of interest is it not possible to pre reserve a seat on QR?

Yes, although not entirely sure for award seats in whY.

If it doesn’t work through QR app/website, try rj.com

Something definitely seems to be up. I can't see a single Qatar Airways award seat on any date or route on the Qantas website right now.

I'm getting an HTTP ERROR 400 on the same search (which will be the return leg to match a trip booked a few weeks ago on QR. Hope they don't suddenly abandon all dump confirmed QFF reward bookings 😬.)

Plenty of QR economy seats showing from BNE to various ports in Europe on QR when using AAdvanatge program on random weeks I look at in October. Note these were all X-class (economy cabin). However, we do know that AA can show phantom availability at times. But sounds like different to QFF search results at the moment.

Haven't looked for a few days but I was consistently seeing around 2 days of AMS-DOH-CBR on QR for June/July 2023.
