Thanks for those shots, all very cute, maybe we need an animal (and other living things) thread, not just moggies? I never get tired of taking photos of any sort of animal, reptile, bird, whatever.

We had 2 separate nights at the Vivid Festival in Sydney-enjoyed seeing the crowds out & about & didn't have any hassles. We visited the Contemporary Arts building after having registered via Amex-great views of the Opera House but I think our crew were the least "cool" group there! Caught a regular ferry between Circular Quay & Darling Harbour (4 stops including East Balmain) that gave us a different outlook. Domain-nothing spectacular, Botanic Gardens some nice spots well suited to families, the Opera House, the face of the Contemporary Arts building & the Bridge stood out for us. Darling Harbour- we arrived just after a fireworks display that we saw from the ferry & there wasn't a lot happening but big crowds dining at the many restaurants. Notable mention to Central Station- some great short light shows up on the main clock. On our 2nd night we managed to get up to an open area at at the northern end & top level of the Overseas Passenger Terminal for great views

Few more of Vivid 2017-not sure what are the best settings for night shots with an oldish point & shoot & some came out better than others.

He isn't the breed you may think he is! Oporto last month.

Australian owner, living in Portugal for several years, he (the dog!) is part Portuguese hunting dog she (the owner) adopted after it had been abandoned, seemingly due to the fact that it wasn't very good at it's job.

Nice! What are you doing there? My grandpa lives up the road in Szczecin - goodness I'm over that place.

We flew into Tegel, then drove across to Cedynia in Poland and stayed at the old kloster, I had been there before but my wife hadn't. Cedynia - Klosterland

Next morning we drove up along the border to Gryfino and had lunch. First visited Chojna, small town with an interesting past, well all of that area has, hasn't it?

There were a lot of road works near Szczecin so we pretty much drove through and up to Swinoujsie where stayed overnight. Crossed over into Germany the next morning, big changes from last time I was in that area, both sides of the border, lots of new hotels going up including a Radisson Blu resort that should be completed by now. https://www.radissonblu.com/en/resort-swinoujscie

Wanted to see more along the Polish coast towards Gdansk, but time constraints and all that! So continued on to Pennemunde.

The finger is to try and gauge size.

Didn't know these were up here. Under his hand, he knew what I meant when I said Balmain Bugs.

I'll add my photos from Myanmar and Laos here, rather than clogging up the 'office' thread.

First, in another thread y I mentioned Lao roads and driving on them.

There was a lot of rain in Laos last year which caused quite a few issues with roads, added to the fact that there are a large number of construction trucks for both dams and rail work, let alone the normal heavy traffic to and from China, this is the equivelent of the Hume highway, route number 13. We went from Luang Prabang to Boten on the border before bac tracking a little and going to Luang Namtha.
I love driving and driving holidays, this however was a totally new experience.
Next time we will rent a Hilux or Ranger and not a Corolla!

This was a big piece of pavement, it would have taken a wheel off if hit at speed.Sorry, some of the shots were out of sequence!

Some of the massive infrastructure work being done in the north of Laos. This will eventually link Kunming to Bangkok by rail, some locals say that when Laos can't repay the huge loans involved, China will just annex the country, to be quite honest it already seems to be happening.

Just north of L.P., this will the rail bridge over the Mekong.
