Red Roo - No more F to HKG = No more A380/Skybed Mark 1?

No pajamas when I was in last as they classed it as day flight

Soon QF will offer the choice between chauffeured transfer, a meal or a pajama. Then, in 6 months they will stop offering all of the above because of lower demand than expected... :D

I'd hope to get them both ways regardless of night or not. It's nice to turn up and have your clothes fresh. I guess if they have them for the return flight they must be on board for the outbound sector. Perhaps its just a matter of asking nicely.

IIRC on the 127 PJ are "on-demand" and not always available

Not feeling very loved today
Had one FASA and one JASA SYD-HKG-SYD for January 2015.
We were both looking forward to our first F Lounge experience in Sydney, first F on a Qantas A380, and a lounge hop in HKG.
I know of the changes, and was waiting for a phone call, but logged into my account this morning to see the following message.

· Your flight has changed, please confirm details below or call your local Qantas office.
Looks like no phone call for us.
Very disappointed.
As I'm only PS the opportunities for two F reward tickets on Qantas are rare.

I'd ask nicely for two F lounge passes for SYD. You might still get the A380 as it's going to be doing some of those flights Dec/Jan. Seats in the F cabin with J service.
I hope that customer care is proactive when you call them.

Would you suggest I call 13 11 31?
Or is there a better number

I'd call that number, there is a Plat number but it only works if you input a Plat FF number otherwise re-directs to the regular desk.

I think the co-payment is different between J/F ASA's so you'd want to get any refund of that plus the difference in points cost back to your account.

in addition to Princess Fiona's post, make sure you request a First lounge pass and that you can keep your already assigned seats in the F cabin (otherwise they'll be allocated to platinums!)

Qantas has published the A380 aircraft to operate between Sydney and Hong Kong to support additional capacity requirements during the peak holiday season – 11 December 2014 – 26 January 2015.

This follows recent changes to the aircraft type operating this route, with a reconfigured B747 to operate from 29 September 2014 to facilitate an upgrade to the A380 on our services to Dallas/Fort Worth.

While First Class will no longer be available on this route, during this period in which the A380 will operate, the seats in the First cabin will be allocated to our most Frequent Flyers travelling in Business, who will still receive Business Class service in the A380 First suites.

Hong Kong is a key market for Qantas and is integral to our strategy in Asia. The recent opening of our new premium Qantas Hong Kong Lounge demonstrates not only how the Qantas Group continues to invest where it matters most to its customers, but is also part of a broader commitment to Hong Kong as a key hub for the region. Qantas operates 21 return services per week between Australia and Hong Kong, on a mix of reconfigured B747, A380 and A330 aircraft.

Assume they are doing this by having no major maintenance over this period, as otherwise why not do it all the time

Does "reconfigured B747" mean the planes with the 5B/5J single seats?

Yes. Skybed Mk II, i.e. "A380 style" interior.

Don't know how it would be for J pax sitting in the F suites.. no Taittinger or tasting menu, no F bedding?
Sure, better than standard J, but weird if you have experienced F before...
Cafe breakfast in F :o
