The F seats for J pax was only for when the flight is ops by A380 iirc
You have a point, and having now flown CX J, I concur that CX is much better. That said, isn't the CX J seat really marketed by its manufacturer as an F seat, so you would expect it to be better?
Sorry JP, to that I say - Big Deal! As you would have seen in this thread: an ignorant call centre person can simply deny you a valid refund (in the linked case a window seat fee when a changed service didn't have any window seats available).
For every person on AFF this happens to, how many of the great unwashed get caught and ripped off? Just like the mASA call (non) fee - it was kept being charged months after people were complaining that they were being ripped off by being charged something they shouldn't have been. Months!
We have and F and J MASA booked SYD-HKG for Jan 2015.
This would be our first F on QF.
No contact about any changes.
I wonder if when we are downgraded, if it's after 1st July, they will still allow us to have the fares as MASA
Maybe, maybe not. My 127/128 flights in oct that were 380s (Monday 6th and Sunday 12th) are now both 3 class 747s.When are you flying in January - as there is still A380 ops to HKG, however you may be in the F section with J service.
The OP doesn't want a refund, she want's an exit seat. If she was to get her refund, so would be defeated in her purpose.
<snip>.
QF has a published table of what happens when there is an involuntary downgrade (refund, etc.). I think Markis linked to it in an earlier post.
So anyone care to take a punt on my options for my F award ticket in Jan? Will I get a points refund and downgrade? The fare itself is an HND-HKG-SYD ticket in F.

Schedules are now in the GDS - 744 every day in October, from airlineroute.net
QANTAS starting 29SEP14 is changing operations to its Sydney – Hong Kong service, as the airline ends Airbus A380 operation to Hong Kong on year-round basis. The airline will operate 3-class Boeing 747-400 aircraft on daily basis from this date, replacing 5 weekly A380 and 2 weekly 4-class 747-400.
However, based on latest adjustment as of 22MAY14, QANTAS appears to continue 5 weekly A380 service from 11DEC14 to 26JAN15, however First Class service is not offered.
QF127 SYD1125 – 1745HKG 744 D
QF128 HKG1945 – 0810+1SYD 744 D
Between 11DEC14 and 26JAN15, A380 operates Day x23
Yes, I know that, but it wasn't the OPs issue I was commenting on. The part of the discussion I was addressing was the reply by John Phelan:
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
according to Red Roo.Qantas has not published any changes yet. However as with any schedule change, we'll be contacting effected customers, either directly or via their booking agent once the changes have been confirmed.
There is no such thing as a Window seat fee in reference to your linked comment, hence the correction.
Lost as in no exit row seats available on the new flights. Got 71D&E way there though which is something.
Also got this: "You have already purchased seating for this itinerary. If you wish to change seats, the purchased value is transferrable for other flights in this itinerary, but is non refundable."
'qantas has not published any changes'... but they managed to get everything loaded into the GDS less than 24 hours later. and that was published by airlineroute.
I'm hoping they didn't go from 'no idea' to 'fully completed' in that time. and if they 'had a pretty good idea' as of yesterday, why not tell us?
Seriously. Complaining when Qantas doesn't publish a decision, and then complaining when they do
question for qantas:
will non-status passenger, currently confirmed in first class but receiving a refund for the downgrade to business class, have their seats protected in the first class cabin even though they have no status?
Good luck finding availability before 29 Sept......after that I wouldn't waste points trying to grab an F seat in a clapped out 747. (always the super busy x-mas period where you can try your luck)
I was thinking more like November 2014, February 2015 and so on but it would appear there won't be any clapped out 747's with F for me to waste my AA miles on a business award.
Oh well I will try to see if I can pay for cheap economy on the clapped out 747's if the route is suitable.
