Received an email this morning for my David Jones American Express and the transfer rate for MR to Qantas is changing from 1=0.75 to 1=0.5.

Earn rate remains the same.

This now puts my Qantas point earning nearly on par with the Qantas Ultimate card. Will only get the extra 0.25 points on supermarket, petrol and discount department store spend. Even spend at David Jones will now only get me 1 QF point.

These changes start April 15.

Shouldn't that be an extra 0.5 points?

The Qantas Ultimate card from April 15 will earn 1.25 points per $1. The new Qantas earn rate from April 15 on the DJ Amex will be $3 = 1.5 QF points and that is only on supermarket, petrol and discount department store spend.

OK, I see now see where you were coming from.

Mrs Pineapple has the email also. For the basic black DJs AMEX, earn rate still 3 points supermarkets, etc, 2 points DJs, 1 point everywhere else. Conversion rate to QFF slips from 4:3 to 2:1, meaning 1.25 QFF points per dollar at supermarkets etc, 1 QFF point per dollar at DJs, etc. Can’t remember if the other DJs card is the same.

The earn rate at DJs on that DJs card now considerably less than that on the AMEX QF Ultimate, where before it was at least on par. Seems something of a conceptual own goal to me.

Sorry Jacques Vert, this revelation may have thrown a spanner in your calculation works upthread. Time for Plan D perhaps. :(

Cheers skip

1.5 at supermarkets and petrol (2 : 1 converts to 3 : 1.5).

The other DJs card (Platinum) earns 4 points at DJs (last time I looked) so now 2 QF points per $.

And yes, time to think about Plan D......:rolleyes:

Spend at Discount department stores such as Big W, Kmart & Target with the DJ Amex card does not earn the 3 Amex Rewards points per $ spend ( or 2.25 QFF points). Only Supermarkets and petrol stations.

However, the way to get around this is by purchasing WISH gift cards at Woolies beforehand shopping at Big W or Coles group gift cards at Coles supermarkets before shopping at Kmart or target.

I can tell you that, that any Woolworth's branded store does earn the 3 points per $. So all Big W, Dan Murphy's, BWS earn the 3 points per $ value. I hope there is someone else here who can quote me on this too. Give it a shot and see your points statement. Just one of the hidden secrets with this card.

I don't know why it does. But I'm guessing it has to do with the eftpos terminal all being linked to Woolworth's.

Coles group stores doesn't do the same sadly.

I hold the Platinum Edge not the DJS card. IME Stable of stores in both Woolworths and Coles Group in addition to their respective supermarket brands currently earn 3ppd.

BWS stores that have Woolworths supermarkets attached will earn the 3 points per $, as the merchant is " Woolworths" ( Ie use the same Eftpos infrastructure as the supermarket adjacent itself.)

In the past i have noticed that BIg W on only earns under "other" (ie 1 amex point per $ spent), on the DJ platinum Amex card but i will do a test run and hope i earn the same points as what your earning.:)

Yeah all these 3 point per $ earns have been on the DJ's Amex for me. BWS stores also earn this as well. Here's another example for a stand alone store not attached to a Woolworth's supermarket. Hope this helps, as you don't need to fuss around with buying gift cards for Wow branded stores anymore. :)

Im not aware of stand -alone BWS stores, Big W or Dan Murphy's stores where the transaction falls under Woolworths supermarkets.
