As WoW Wish gift cards have no expiry date, I'm stocking up on the physical cards at 5% discount....bought with the Edge of course earning 3 MR pts per $ pre April 15th. The card can be used for petrol, Opal card Top Ups alcohol at Dan's and groceries of course....just wondering how much I should buy but probably 10K worth at least as that should last 2-3 years hopefully. ;)

So with the physical cards do you have to pay for Freight as well?

Yes $5.50 for registered post but am ordering $4500 worth at a time so not a biggie; when you order $5000 or more, they are couriered at a cost of $14.99!

I haven't ordered physical cards for a while but via RACQ the shipping fee used to be waived.
NRMA no longer sell physical cards. I'm now ordering via RAA which now charge the amount mentioned above. Some servos only accept the physical card, not the e gift one.

Indeed, the Star Mart stations.

I had hoped with the announcement that WWR points can now be earned at many more Caltex stations that eGCs may also be accepted at more stations but I haven't seen any news to that effect nor have I tried.

I just stick to using a full blown Woolworths petrol station.

unfortunately RACQ started charging the registered post fee a few months ago. It always showed up in the pre-checkout process, but was not actually charged. Now it is added to the final cost.

I'm glad I switched to eGCs then.

And they no longer accept Amex.

EDIT: it seems they still do and I was using the wrong link. Thanks to @Mr_Orange for the tip.

They certainly do. I used my Amex about a week ago.
Hmmm.

Are you talking about RACQ by calling them, or via their rewards website?

At checkout in the rewards site I only get Visa or MC options... with the discount cut to 4% rather than 5%.

And I only have the Coles EGC, not Woolies. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Yeah, but if you buy 3 batches like that to make your 10k, you're already at a postage cost of $16.50 for the same value in cards.

Courier is the value option. :-)

Hi All,

If I needed a VISA and AMEX combo to have best krisflyer earn rates, is plat edge and st george amplify signature the best combo?

I spend quite a bit in supermarkets and petrol.

Thanks,
K.

I'd re-consider the Edge after April devaluation as the earn for 'general' spend (outside of bonus categories) is very low for an AMEX. Depending on your tolerance for Annual fees and your personal circumstances, Explorer or the Platinum Charge (if you can stomach the fees and its features suit you) might be best for general spend.

I agree with your choice of Visa for non-Amex spend - currently the best non-Amex for KF earn.

Thanks. Most of my general spend don't accept Amex so I was thinking to put that on the amplify signature. And supermarkets and petrol goes to edge even past april this year.

Note I already have the Amex plat edge card and a Citi signature free for life.

Does the amplify still earn at the maximum rate with utilities/government?

So far so good on this IME. Others have cut back on this so it's always at risk. Good to enjoy it while we have it :)

Thanks. Also I can't stomach the high fees of plat charge and explorer :P

I used to have a plat charge with annual fees of $900 and $1200 but I can no longer justify that.

They did with my most recent purchase at the end of November. They did change the payment process about a year ago and indicate that Visa/Mastercard is their preferred option but were still accepting Amex and showing as a Major Supermarket for points earning. If this has indeed changed then it certainly spells the end of my Amex relationship WW Wish Cards would be 80% of my spend on my Amex card.

I am planning to buy a few thousand dollars worth early next week - just waiting until the next Amex statement cycle before purchasing.
