Reduction in Transfer Rates to Velocity/Krisflyer

Already have. The more the merrier.

Ok I also just lodged a complaint with the ACCC on their website. No point trying to argue with representatives on the phone it is not their fault. My view is ACCC (done) + Choice (done) + small claims tribunal ($40, not yet done) + maybe more media exposure?

(Coles525 is following this topic, but not part of anything)

Thanks Dave.

Count me in.

I can't PM until I've posted 4 more times

Just reply in another topic (flybuys?) or few quoting "post bumping" 4, 3, 2, 1 (4 seperate replies). Simple. Then you have Access.

Tweet the Ausbt story to @ACurrentAffair9 - I imagine Citi is the lowest spending bank advertiser with 9 and they love a story on nasty banks so they might run it. Someone needs to go on the show though and cry about their missed holiday (or appear in chains) ;)
Wrong as Citi are, I'm afraid I can't see much sympathy from the viewing public for people with millions of FF points losing out on their J & F flights.

Been told by someone that top executives at Citi AU were informed earlier and are looking into this issue. Hopefully, there will be some good news tomorrow.

Afraid the damage is done. People will be looking for an exit, which unfortunately are getting scarcer and scarcer.

Another two names PM'ed to you Dave, cheers.

Call me cynical but I complained on Citi's facebook page yesterday and only received a reply offering to personally escalate the issue AFTER Dave replies to my comment offering in on the legal action. Still no reply to my written complaint via the online banking internal messenger.

Git em Dave, git em.

The ACCC may go beyond what is in the Ts and Cs. Citi must have known about this before they pulled the trigger on 1 November. So the major issue is that people were, for a time at least, continuing to spend on a product which Citi knew they had no intention of honouring. That's the potentially misleading bit.

Yes, well I think Citi has said more than a few misleading things but yes was wondering about this myself.

PM Sent!

Also have filed a complaint but I believe the response will be same as the ones other members have been receiving so far....

I am sure they could "spin" it if they wanted into something like ' banks make billions of dollars in profit, yet continues to rip off credit card holders'

I wouldn't be believing this if you heard it from any call center person.

+1. I was originally a bit on Citi's side and was gonna take their genuine offer as a gesture of good will and take the $700. But that "good will" has been twisted and became a broken promise! How can I ever trust citibank with my money? Basically, don't take any offer, don't believe anything they said unless it's in writing!

I am sitting on about 300,000 points and just caught up on this thread.

Will be calling CitiBank tomorrow and then raising a FOS case if they don't transfer points at the old rate.

I have always been skeptical of CitiBank and this just takes the cake.

I had started to enjoy the 1:1 on the card without having to worry about "Do you accept Amex"

With the new transfer ratio I'll simply go back to pushing to use my Amex for everything

One off. The phone agent also told me they have received an "alert" with reference to 6.2.3. So for anyone still thinking about calling, don't waste your time. The phone agent was actually very apologetic as she could not fulfill her promise. I actually thanked her for her help and understood that it wasn't her fault and she was in a bad position. I told her I would put in formal complaints and then to ACCC and FOS. She just silently agreed but could not offer more. So they must be under specific instruction not to offer anything more than what others have been offered here. Ie. $350 refund fee or 10000-20000 points.

Technically, they should easily be able to give the $350 off on an annual basis without loosing much on the card. This is actually a Citigold benefit, which also gives an annual 'relationship bonus' of 30,000 for the Prestige card.

So if they are already offering the same product @ $350 to Citigold clients (which is very easy to maintain by the way), I doubt it'll be hard to offer that to anyone wanting to cancel that if they were serious about retaining a paying Citi Prestige customer.

Thanks Dave.

Please include me in your letter.

I can't PM unfortunately as I haven't posted often enough.

Dezza Dezza I was going to transfer my citi points to Kris Flyer this week. My dad has been diagnosed with a very rare form of aggressive lymphoma and has only months to live. It is his desire and wish to come to australia to visit me. Last week, the Doctor has certified that he is fit to travel and I was hoping to book a business class ticket on Singapore Airline to make his flight comfortable. With the devaluation of points, the trip will probably eventuate in Y class....Shame on you citi!!!!!

fb post on cit fb au page.

jeez citi have a heart.

(anyone with twitter should fire this off to ACA, the Verdict, Alan Jones, Dick Smith, their local MP.)

Don't waste your time to call. The phone agents are powerless to help you and they have received the "alert" memo from higher end that if customer complain about clause 6.2.1, reply with clause 6.2.3 and offer little to nothing depending on how important you are to Citi. As I said, even if they agreed to any demand you have over the phone, they still need authorization and most likely it will be declined.

It is better to put in writing, get a case number, and whatever they offered back will at least be in writing.

Your story will be perfect for ACA. You will receive a lot of sympathy from general public.
