I was just trying to book a Qantas domestic J fare and under refunds it just says 'Permitted'. When I last booked a Qantas domestic J fare in June it said 'Cancellation (including no show) Fare is fully refundable. Any refund or credit is the Australian dollar price.

Does anyone know if permitted = fully refundable?

Would have thought so
I’m sitting on some J fares where I paid the $25 HOLDING deposit with full payment due the day or two before flying
If I bail on them you cop the loss of $25

I am about to book a business class to Mel, but how do I find out if the ticket is J fare ticket before proceed to payment?

Have a look at the fare rules which is shown as one of the final steps before payment.

I looked up the fare rules, it shows:

Cancel for a Refund
Permitted.
  • If this fare is combined with another fare the most restrictive refund conditions apply.

You may be entitled to a refund or alternative flight under the Australian Consumer Law or Conditions of Carriage.

(I am not 100% sure if this means it is Fully refundable if I am paying in cash (charge on my charge card) and if full refundable, what about tax? Is tax also refundable as well?)

The only other option on Qantas is the Pay Later feature if it’s offered. It allows you to forego the $25 you pay to hold til later if you don’t travel on the day

And if you do pay later (couple of days ahead) it deducts the $25 from the payment needed AND still refunds the $25 to you thus making a $50 discount …, used to work on Adelaide - OOL (dog leg) J fares
