Have a look at Shark Fin Inn at 50 Little Bourke St. I never been there but heard it has good yum cha.
Ok, so a little bit about Shark Fin.
Shark Fin Group
They call themselves a "Chain"...... but with four restaurants this is not the sort of Chain that Colonial Saunders needs to worried about.
They are pretty much original like all the other Establishments located on Little Bourke Street.
With the Two locations they have in Little Bourke street, I believe that "Shark Fin House", located at 131 Little Bourke street is the pick of the two, due to more seating capacity, a more modern appearance & overall a stronger atmosphere as the restaurant was busy when i popped in to take a look.
The Food Service is by Trolleys coming past, exactly like our last Yum-Cha at Dragon Boat.
The cost per plate/serving varies obviously depending on what it is, prices are from $4.80- $7.80.
The Chap at the Front Desk on the Shark Fin House location (131 Little Bourke Street) told me for approx 10 people the cost per head usually is around the $30- $35 mark, again pretty much similiar cost per head to our last Yum-Cha at Dragon Boat.
I enquired about Vegetarian options, which are available, although it was pointed out very few different choices are offered, so maybe 2 different options at the most.
When i enquired at both locations, the Sunday booking times for Yum-cha is at :
11am-1pm or
1:30pm -3:30pm
So you can't just rock up at 12:30pm & make a booking unfortunately, but i'm of the view that 1:30pm could work well for us, with maybe a pre drink perhaps for those who wish to partake a little earlier (although we can certainly work in reverse order also
)
Overall, i believe it will be fine, although worth noting that the reviews on Urban spoon were better for Shark Fin Inn (52 Little Bourke street).

(Maybe due to less seating capacity = better service).
Let me know what you think & should we go ahead & make a reservation?
