Ok since I'm not a Melbourne local I have a few questions...but definitely keen to attend, even if it's only a short visit. (Have an international flight to Singapore departing that afternoon/night)

Is there parking nearby?
how far is it from Tullamarine, approximately in time?

On Saturdays you can find free parking on some streets. There are also plenty of car parks in the area that charge ~$10 flat rate on weekends.
I don't expect much traffic on a Saturday afternoon from the city to airport. I would say approx 30 minutes by car.

Parking is generally FOC around the CBD on Sundays, but it's pretty busy around the Shark Finn Area.

Allow that as a minimum, also if you want full final documentation for the rental, allow another 10-5 minutes to get that.

Sorry, I should write Sunday before... there is not much difference in parking availability or driving time to/from the airport on both days.
I'm in the city now and can report some good availability of free on street parking today. Just pay attention to the signs as parking inspectors are lurking around.

SkyBus - City. Airport. Express. is the best way to the city. Then by the free skybus hotel shuttle
Parking is difficult in that area around mid day on Sundays. Some parking on Spring St and behind Parliament. No footy at the MCG on 23 March so a little easier.
