I don't want to get too technical with this post, but Sparkling Shiraz could best be described, in oenological terms, as 'yummo'. ;)

I have tasted some shockers in my time. However I have had some really "Yummo" ones as well. :D

I must be in the minority, I am not a fan of the sparkling Shiraz. Or any sparking Shiraz for that matter

I'm with you and at the risk of being shunned by this forum, I don't like champagne either

I will admit I am a relatively recent convert (~last 10-15 years).

When I was young I used to hate any wine with bubbles. The bubbly dishwater that my very first ladyfriend drunk was utter undrinkable garbage akin to feline urine put through a soda stream... Then I found Champagne (appellation). Although I was a Champagne lover before flying frequently in premium cabins, the latter has certainly helped me enjoy it more frequently.

My first sparkling reds were probably similarly average to my high school soda steam. However in a similar light, I was convinced to try Seppelts one Christmas before moving from beer to red wine. My opinion immediately changed. Over the years I have developed more of an appreciation for this variety/technique.

It certainly isn't an everyday drink, but a bottle or two shared with friends and/or family in the warmer months certainly hits the spot. Most of what I drink is from two producers (don't all guess at once), but I try to experiment every now and then. There are some Great Western imitations around the $30 mark which are drinkable, but not in the same league.

I love wine with bubbles, in fact I will even drink some of the better Prosecco available.
But then I don't necessarily enjoy all varieties of wine, and in my declining years I find myself subscribing to the theory that I should really only drink what I like best.

To answer Goodonya's post a page or two back, yes I am an original Stonewaller. And the lunches, well we just might have to discuss that when we meet.

I suspect what happens at Stonewaller lunches stays in Stonewaller lunches.

According to the Wiki, there is just one place left.
Any takers for this magnificent event??

Would love to, but my taste buds are so off that I just can't drink wine. I must confess too that I've only opened one bottle of the Rockford wine I purchased on the 2015 trip. So unfortunately no, but I'll think of you all. :)
