RewardPay Alternatives

Used a couple of days ago via BC, got the double points

Thanks for the confirmation.

I mentioned previously my first transaction with Bluechain was a bit of a headache, required a lot of back and forth but was eventually processed. Good in a way considering it was $75k but did leave me questioning whether to keep using it. Have done a further $250k transactions since then, have found it painless to use since then though whether I use it beyond the honeymoon period/double points promo is still uncertain. One of the better interfaces.

$24.95 a month is a total scam. even the reduction to 1% for MC/VISA does not cut it. Numbers don't add up for occasional bill payers maybe only for big amounts but they will lose customers over this.
Just a data point on the pending change in EBP on Monday - apparently, if you close your account to avoid this monthly fee, but things change (eg, we can actually use points to travel again...), they are actually not accepting new customers for the time being...

A $25 FOMO fee.... I think EBP have been pretty upfront that they are no longer interested in points chasers. Unless they are undoing that with this $25 fee, I think it's pretty hard to see how their actual client base (who are apparently those who want to manage a budget by paying bills via EBP) will be well served having to shell out that much money per month.

Time to stick a fork in EBP.

Agreed. Time to close my account.
Is there an automated online way or have to contact them to close to avoid the fees?

So, with the end of the wonderful AMEX double points promotion, which payment platforms are people using now?

It seems Yakpay for Visa/Mcard and BC for AMEX. I haven't used Creditrewards before, but it seems to be for bpay payments only?

Yes CR is BPay only.
I'm doing EFT unless visa is surcharge free and Amex 1.5% max.

Unsure how FF points will Deval post covid

Just got a notification that BC is "experiencing issues with American Express", and we should stop making payments through them with American Express cards until further notice. Not looking good - reminds me of the message from Billcardboom from a little while back, which is still out of action :(

hmm I wonder what the issues are. I put through a payment with EBP but prefer BC given they can enter narratives on the Amex statement. They've always struck me as very compliance focused. Hope it's just a technology issue rather than a compliance issue.

I paused my EBP account and they charged me $24.95 monthly fee anyway, on 7 August.
EBP told me that you still get charged monthly fee if you PAUSE account, and can only avoid fee if you CLOSE your account (of course, that means you won't be able to re-open account later on)

Thanks - I'm still ok putting business expenses through YP @ 1% - I don't mind the cash flow benefit and even though I've dialled it back, I can't quite go back to using EFT again for everything!

Service Fee
In consideration for the provision and ongoing development of a secure, feature-rich product such as Easy Bill Pay, a service fee of $24.95 will be charged on a monthly basis. This fee does not apply to suspended accounts or accounts that are in Explore Mode."

This is from their update of service email from 15 June 2020. I have lodged a refund request. If they don't refund in reasonable time I will lodge a chargeback. Then I will close my EBP account.

I wonder if they will argue that suspended or explore modes are different from pause mode - I had to ask them directly though for clarification as I thought it was ambiguous if you got charged in pause mode
