RewardPay Alternatives

Anything over 1 cent per point will most probably see me head for the exit sign.

I'll go with average cost of 1c..still keep majority surcharge free but here and there pay a little more to get a hefty boost I feel at this stage

Bpay overnight has reloaded the explorer for one last final $50k spend today - another 100,000KF points @ .85 cpp is not a bad way to see out this relationship.

How confident are you that points will post before 1am Monday morning? I had my final tilt yesterday to allow them time to post before the amount is recorded for doubling. Hope you get the lot posted in time.

Pending is all that's required. This has been confirmed by the Sydney credit office, noted on file and delivered with a passionate guarantee with the person giving me their number if it doesn't. I'm pretty confident that they'll post overnight going on a very long track record of payments via RP.

In my experience, one of the really positive things about AMEX is that points post really quickly, whether it's bonus points or manually transferring points, and I generally find that points post pretty quickly - good, however, that 'pending' is sufficient --- I wish I'd thought of that!

I just checked my points account, and it is only up to 9/4, which is 3 days behind.

If the transaction is not listed in your points account (rewards section within internet banking), then you haven't got it.

I think you are too optimist. :D

That was explained away in the conversation.... the doubling will occur sometime well after the 15th (the letter states by 15th June) the critical part is actually having the charge pending before midnight on the 14th April. Who knows, but I've got his name and number as well as his superior ... so I'm all good with going for it.

Another data point - charges I ticked up on the 10th went from pending to posted on the 11th, but show on my account as points earned on the 10th - that's proof positive right there.

I've just completed the last round and they are all sitting there as pending at today's date.... pretty confident they will all post overnight anyway.

You have until Sunday midnight to keep racking those points up. I'm out for more RP transactions as I cannot Bpay before they post, and I'm not going to worry about doing that on a weekend. However, I've still got the plat and edge which I'll hammer with standard transactions right up to midnight Sunday :D

Quick question - usually, RP takes a few days to make the payment - are you saying it doesn't matter effectively when they make the payment, as long the RP transaction is showing as pending in your AMEX account prior to 15 April? (I recall that usually when I do an RP payment it shows pending straight away in my AMEX account) - I assume also that you have your accounts linked, rather than manual points transfer?

You are talking about doubling, which is different from us who have to move out. I was out of context, sorry.

AmEx did say that they won't execute the doubling until June, which is the right process, as transactions could take days to settle.

Correct to all of the above.

The example I referred to above is actual - I processed payments via RP on the 10th April (Weds this week), sometime overnight (10th/11th) they posted and they show on Amex website as posting on the 10th. That allowed me to Bpay Amex which cleared overnight and this morning I got to do it all again.

The email from RP confirming payment was received yesterday (11th) after 5pm. It takes RP a lot longer to process their paperwork than Amex. Do your own test - take a look at your account and cross check what date you paid for something and the date shown as the earn date on your points account. The only ones that don't align for me is transactions made on holiday or weekends.... which kinda makes some sense.

I'm no Amex expert, but I'm confident enough to proceed. I guess it comes down to personal opinion. I'll come back and report how it all went.

Yep, that's how I see it too - assume your accounts are linked though, whereas I do manual transfers, so time may beat me

Yeah, that would be critical link.... I don't think I'd chance it in your case.

Yep, Ferni's method is just as reliable/quick, maybe more so - I made around $80k of payments on 10 April and when they posted they did so as April 9!

TIME TRAVEL.

interesting - I never looked into it - I was thinking that easybillpay going forwards is going to be best option as assume Ferni's method won't be as competitive post deval

I wouldn't be using Ferni's method after d-day either. I was simply mentioning the fact that at present, payments made via RP/Ferni's method will post in time.

Here’s another one seemingly just launched, charging 1.95%. Yeah right.

This company is a fantastic example of new age fintech twaddle. I say that not knowing squat about them, but reading the first ~20 or so posts on their twitter feed. Just a mish mash of posts about blockchain, fintech conferences, the end of the cash economy and bbqs with no sign whatsoever of customers.

This could only be a late stage pivot to some scheme to pay for those bbqs.
