Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

How does it work for international interline ticket holders (Etihad and Delta)?

Would they risk no-shows, instances of refused check-ins to then take over the impacted tickets and reissue on other carriers or would they take the risk to wait and assess?
Would be very unlikely they would actually have any passengers. It's not a codeshare arrangement, it's a simple interline agreement.

Of course you knew I was talking about the ABX- MEL route if you bothered to read my posts and there are not 6 QF flights a day on that route.
Having flown into rural and regional areas for 2 weeks to 3 months at a time and also to do a fortnightly clinic I have flown the Saabs and usually the Q200s I never felt there was a great difference.
Now if I was going for a longer period I would fly in the night before and fly out the morning after the job ended. But if I had to do that for a day clinic it would mean spending 2 nights in the town instead of in in the morning and out at night. A very big difference.
And the V line takes nearly 3 hours.

As for domestic airlines services are a free market you are joking aren’t you. Lots of hurdles to enter the market.
Sound logic

Wow! Didn't realise that at all.

Any ideas on who RQC, RQP, and RYU are named after?

RegistrationNamed after
VH-REXObvious
VH-8KHLim Kai Hai
VH-8JSJohn Sharp
VH-8ZLObvious
VH-MFMMichael Francis McCormack, current National Party politician, longtime political friend of Sharp, and former transport minister responsible for giving more taxpayer cash to Rex than QF and VA combined
VH-PAGPAG, major Rex foreign shareholder
VH-RQC?
VH-RQP?
VH-RYU?

I think these registrations are the perfect summation as to why they're a rotten core that has to go.

Wow. Never made the connection that MFM was McCormack. What does he have to do with the airline? And we pretend we are not corrupt in Aus…

I think the DL tieup was much the same as JQ/QF/VA wasn’t it? My old folks booked a DL flight and the VA connection was still cheaper vs Rex.

When my brother flew with DL he couldn’t book back to CBR and when he tried other combos it only booked with VA/ZL/JQ and he couldn’t get QF to even show as an option. He ended up flying into WGA with ZL

8 is the luckiest number in Chinese culture because his pronunciation “Ba” sounds similar to the word “fa”, which means to make fortune. The number 8 is associated with wealth, prosperity, success and status and for this reason business men favor it very much
Not that lucky this time

Looks like VA wants to take over REXs regional routes through a takeover

“Rex and Virgin Australia are also exploring opportunities to support regional customers, which include Virgin Australia selling Rex’s regional services through code share or interline arrangements, and making Velocity Frequent Flyer benefits available to Rex’s regional customers.”

They are getting very close. Very interesting days ahead

VA is already in the bed with Link and FlyPelican, and Rex would be the third regional airline to use VA codeshare and Velocity!

Doubt it. Codeshare only. That would give them Link and Rex as feed for its high margin Virgin flights.

Just remember Virgin gains a few things from this which will increase its margin. The margin improvement from Rex simply dropping off these services will be worth tens of millions for VA. They also get access to Staff and likely spare parts.

Huge Upside for VA here. Valuation has just gone up overnight.

Not a "takeover" per se. But VA are offering ZL an olive branch of a codeshare and FF partnership, which are 2 different things entirely.

Considering that ZL and DJ (as they were known then) used to interline and had a FF partnership prior to their fallout roughly 2 decades ago
