Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Had noticed the absence of "airline has thanked BAC, Queensland Government, etc" for their support and assistance in starting up (x) route(s) in this presser, as opposed to other past releases such as the recent JQ BNE-PER route.

BAC must've really PLAYED hard to deny REX the concessions they were allegedly asking for and get them to pay whatever the BAC dictated to them.
I believe most of the "assistance" offered to Rex from BNE is in the form of marketing assistance and no great shakes at that

Looks like they have cancelled many flights this week to ‘combine’ as such.

Some Brisbane/Gold Coast flights are pretty empty. I thought everyone would have been bursting this week from down south to Queensland and vice versa.

ZL309, the 0630 hours BNE - SYD on Tuesday 21 December 2021 looks to have had one passenger in business class and six in economy if EF is correct.

However much longer established QF505 (the 0610 hours) only had 33 in whY, so neither flight is likely to have been profitable (irrespective of fares charged, which won't be an average of $400).

VAd doesn't appear to show which seats were filled on EF.

Seems pretty quiet across the board at the moment in/out QLD.

Obviously a fair bit of hesitation from the public at the moment. VA is cancelling and combining a lot of flights at the moment.

We probably need to cycle another month, however I don’t think public confidence will lift much if we are recording 20k cases a day next month across the nation.

I wonder if case numbers matter to the travelling public a lot less than do the reactions of various state politicians.
I think it’s just the fear and more fear being pushed from both the politicians and the media. The words lockdowns, restrictions, mandates being pushed around the media isn’t helping give them much confidence to travel.

However Tasmania sending each plane load into HQ that has a positive on board, isn’t helping either.

I don’t think it’s the case numbers for most people now. It’s the restrictions and penalties for your life if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

High case numbers will put pretty much everyone in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We spoke too soon. Doherty are putting its modelling to nations cabinet tomorrow.
SMH have the leak, Prediction is 250k cases a day, yes a day, in 4 weeks time, if we hold our current lifestyle.

Every flight will have positive cases at that rate. I think domestic travel will dry up again.

Surely at that point you simply give up and move on with life.

Give it a break with the comments about low pax loads guys - getting old!

It also defies the reality that it’s a new operation in its first weeks following lockdowns and border closures. There’s money in the kitty to ride this out - if they’re still low on 12 months that’s when they’ll need to ask some hard questions.

The way some of you carry on, you’d think the airline was borrowing your personal credit card to pay for fuel 🙄.

For what it’s worth, it was a busy flight with 150+ pax from memory. Loads busy heading north, not so much heading south.
