Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

How much longer past "mid-November" will reward redemptions become available? Maybe another year delay like the initial launch of there FF program? 😂

VA flight cancelled yesterday, crew shortage. Only notified at the airport, 45 mins prior to departure. Replacement flight offered 4 hours later.

Got a full refund and booked with Rex! Walk up fare the same as advance purchase on VA.

Yeah, the lounge is sort of basic, but it had hot sarnies, wines and beers. It was fine for 30 minutes.

Still a newish route
Rex were touting its success when it commenced though. In the first month of operations, Sharp claimed they were averaging 80%+ LFs. More likely a bit of embellishment on his part.
Counted 26 pax on ZL969 just now, Mel to Hba. Are bad loads still a thing on Rex?
The earlier flight (961) wasn't much better with 40+ pax.

That is quite strange for a Sunday evening.

Having a look at Virgin, around 120 ish on the comparable flight just now, and earlier in the day 150/120/100.

Not the busiest of days into HBA, however Rex generally does terrible when Virgin is having a ‘just ok’ day.

Seems pretty busy around the rest of the network today however. Rex results for the half will be out next month, they have been at this Jet game for a while now, if they can’t make positive earnings from this last half, then the question is when?

Also much busier on the return sector , which I guess is to be expected as people are more likely to be returning from Hobart this weekend.

A month ago BNE-ADL was nearly full and I was impressed. Way better than recent trips on VA.
Rex’s business class is better than VA’s, hands-down. The only thing Rex doesn’t have is spirits, but I think it’s a matter of time, and once more people start paying the full asking price.

We had a mechanical delay of 30 mins ex SYD the other day. The captain came on to apologise and said the crew would be offering water and snacks while we waited!! And yes, it was only 30 mins delay. I mean, that’s service! (Main cabin got water and standard snack mix, business class got choice of beverage and choice of snacks from the pantry.)

Perhaps the REX BNE ground staff could offer their BBQ next time there are any 30min+ delays.
;)

Certainly been very quiet on the Rex front. H1 results out in a few weeks.

They surely would have these Jet operations highly profitable by now?

Dunno. My evening SYD-MEL last week was only 60 pax total. Crew have been reporting flights have had good loads of late and the days of 10 pax per flight are well and truly over.

I think there’s a real sense of pride when they can now welcome RexFlyers and Delta FFers!!

I don’t think business class is selling well though.

I'd think ZL will be welcoming Turkish FFers in due course towards the end of 24 should the talks go well.

They still seem to have this issue with a whole heap of full flights, then a small cluster of dead empty flights. That’s an issue when you are a small player, running near empty flights quickly drains the cash from the other full flights.

Eg- the two BNE-SYD flights in the air at the moment have 20 bodies on each. Now looking at Virgin, it’s two flights only have 4 spare seats. Management need to be asking the Revenue and Network teams, why are VA getting 90% of the pax on a Saturday Afternoon?

Yes! I think that’s a fair observation.

Maybe it’s the FF program still, and lack of advertising? I haven’t seen an ad for rex anywhere.
