Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

I'd think ZL will be welcoming Turkish FFers in due course towards the end of 24 should the talks go well.

There is possibly a few too many hurdles for that to come to fruition, but if it did, I would not be unhappy. Currently their onboard experience (in Y) and IRROPS are definitely superior to the alternative often mooted.

Turkish will want to tap into the Virgin FF Customer base so highly unlikely they would rush straight to Rex. The end point connection is just one part of any tie up. Tapping the customer base, accessing corp accounts, gaining Biz pax, obviously larger VA network, same reservation platforms, will all go Virgin’s way.

Depends if Virgin even reaches out however. Rex is last man standing if they are not interested. Better than nothing I guess, they will need PER and CNS however.

Rex really dragging its feet with transcon. They have the aircraft to make it happen.

I know it's 'that' site, but reported road-blocks of TK approaching VA are obviously the 'usual suspects' aka QR and SQ.

Yeah, I’d imagine QR will be pulling the strings here and that next to no chance they allow VA to partner with TK

Indeed. It's a replay of Virgin 1.0, with the SQ and EY blocking any airline partnering with VA that 'invaded their territory'. TK is seen as a threat to QR (and likely to SQ).

With EY and DL now out of the way and replaced with QR and UA respectively, I would think those two would be the same.

Now looking at Virgin, it’s two flights only have 4 spare seats. Management need to be asking the Revenue and Network teams, why are VA getting 90% of the pax on a Saturday Afternoon?
I flew BNE-SYD on VA the same afternoon and the 12:05 flight was cancelled last minute

A non AusBT source on Turkish Airlines approaching REX back in December. TK also indirectly mention their interline/baggage through check with QF and to a lesser extent JQ.
Noted that TK doesn't interline with VA at all, so collecting your bags and hauling them to Int' Terminal for re-checking in is required for Dom>Int connections if booked (through a third party) on a VA and TK itinerary.

It would be funny if Rex joined Star Alliance and VA did nothing!
I'd suspect SQ and/or UA will use their full-member veto to block that application anyway, lol.

Better chance of ZL getting more involved with SkyTeam partners at this point anyway.

VA joint an alliance is fantasy stuff
ZL joing one is beyond fantasy stuff
Unless another major wants to take a punt at the Australian domestic market again. Not impossible, but hey who knows what the future might hold.

One way is for someone to buy a significant chunk of ZL as a working base then expanding from there. Who knows maybe in a decade we have another major skyteam domestic airline.

(Yes we can dream).

Once a week, Wed out (1200/1500), Thu back (1330/1615). I guess a repositioning flight for the aircraft that National Jet will use to fly the CNS-TSV-MOV FIFO charter.
Monday flight added from March 4th. Also Q400.

A third daily flight is being added between Melbourne and Adelaide from October 27th.

  • ZL448 ADL 1500 MEL 1650 Daily
In other developments, having recently stepped down as Executive Chairman, Lim Kim Hai has today launched a bid as a shareholder to remove four directors from the board. This includes removing John Sharp as a director.

Some popcorn ahead for 'the drama' coming up at the next REX General Meeting, seems LKH wants his influence back and may end up being a show down between LKH, his former right-hand men and PAG.

If you though the VA 1.0 drama between Hogan, Borghetti, Luxon and co was bad back in the day, the upcoming next REX general meeting is sure to spark some fireworks.
