Rockfords discussion

I just spoke to Sharon at Rockford and she did confirm that as a Stone Wall member another allocation of 6 BP is available.
I guess the wine front review would reduce sales (as would a lower quality vintage - if it is...)

Did you ask about the 2016 BP ? My Langton's broker confirms the image is of a bottle so not a typo - Cellartracker shows 87 bottles of 2016 BP in cellars - I always assumed people entered the wrong date

No, didn't ask about the 2016.
Will enquire on Sunday while there.

Smells a bit funny to me. AFAIK, since the "rare chance release", its gone something like this:

2014 Basket press was released to Stone Wall members in October 2017, and into cellar door around March 2018.

2015 Basket press was released to Stone Wall members in October 2018, and into cellar door around March 2019. (Currently available)

2016 Basket Press will be released to Stone Wall members in October 2019, and into cellar door around March 2020.

Maybe some bottles of ‘16 left the Rockford cellar/warehouse unknown to Rockford....

I inquired about this at Cellar door the other day.

The details I posted are correct. 2016 Basket Press will be released to Stone Wall members in October this year, and is absolutely not available to anyone currently. No bottles have been sold by Rockford.

The 2016 offered on Langtons a few months ago was removed from Langtons and is now a Police matter.

Rockford don't bottle onsite, they use one of the commercial bottling lines in the Barossa. It is possible that the wine may be genuine and was stolen during bottling, or during transit to the warehouse, or from the warehouse. The other option is that the label was forged. Naturally this is speculation only.

Outrageous!
I say we push for royal commission on this one.

In hindsight the ‘16 BP was posted at the very beginning of April...... so I was assuming it was a joke. If Police are now involved I guess it wasn’t

Somebody must have very good eyes to see that the image put up on Langtons was actually the 2016 version. Yes, the timing appears to be wrong so that was the first red flag. Of course, Langtons may have to give details to the police of the person who put the bottles up for auction. Do Langtons actually check the veracity of the auction information? No doubt these and oter questions will be answered by you collective gaggle of wine connoisseurs ;) :D

I had an email conversation back and forth with our broker about it - then communications stopped so I stopped pressing

3x 2009 Basket Case, 1x magnum 2016 BC.
Plenty of age to it then :oops::rolleyes:
So 2013 AD, not ‘16 BC.....

Ah, I was wondering about the 'plenty of age ...' comment. I didn't get it until I realised you were referring to my use of 'BC'. :) As you see, I refer to 'Basket Press as 'Basket Case' ... BC :).

But yes, my error in calling it 2016 rather than 2013. And being the driver for the day, I hardly drunk anything!!

Hell!! For someone who hardly drinks these days, I ordered a hellavalot of plonk over the two days in the Barossa. And I'll be back twice more before the end of the year

My initial thoughts were it could have been a typo... until a photo of the bottle surfaced.

CT says 96 bottles now in the community as of today. Could be stolen, could be typos, could be fake... But the winery assures me nobody has had access to buy this wine legitimately. This is consistent with how Rockford has done things (long term supporters, e.g. stone wall members get first access - even before staff).
