Rockfords discussion

Enjoyed a ‘13 BP and ‘14 Rifle Range last night. The BP was excellent, however was a little disappointed with the RR, was easy drinking but didn’t provide the same oomph the BP did.

Did you pick them up from the cellar door on release, or later via the secondary market? I’m pretty sure I tried the 14 RR on release, but definitely haven’t tried it since - I’m trying to hold off touching my first ‘12 RR until next Year (first vintage of RR I bought). So far I have really enjoyed the RR on release. In my limited experience I think it easily rivals the BP - on release anyway....

That mirrors my memories also - really enjoyed the RR at CD, infact more so than the BP... both were purchased from the CD and have slept in the wine fridge since. The RR was still enjoyable, just not as punchy and full bodied as I remembered

FWIW, both quite young IMHO, especially if cellared correctly.

At a recent dinner I bought a 2008 BP, which could have easily gone longer. The remaining couple of bottles may be left.

$390 is a lot.....

It certainly is, but it is less than the original $450.

Normally these wine dinners are much more reasonably priced (e.g. $120 - $250), and as such, a great value way to try the different wines on offer.

A difficult comparison (as not open to the public), but the Henschke and Rockford lunches are normally around $190-$250 I think, and always involve some museum wines.

Mind you, as I said upthread, Maha has never been accused of being cheap. I recall a dinner with a certain AFF doctor being "silly money".

I was fortunate enough to receive my Stonewaller membership in the mail today. Feeling privileged.
Saw the magic membership on Friday at lunch (we surprisingly attended the same work lunch). Standard order for 1 x Basket Press requested :D

I see the ‘17 Rifle Range and ‘18 Hand Picked are both now available
