Rockfords discussion

Has Ben Radford left Rockford? (This question was just asked on The Wine Front)

I seem to recall a CWS Rockford dinner (with Ben Radford) back on Monday 5 October 2015 being nowhere near that expensive. The email invite goes to a dead link, but certainly was sub $200.

It is certainly a lot of money, although I don't think Maha has ever been accused of being a cheap restaurant.

I won't be attending that dinner...

$500 got two of us a high-end tasting at Henschke plus lunch with Pru & Stephen Henschke with vertical pairs of matching wines plus a tour of the winery and vineyards!

Sensational value really, especially in comparison to this offer.

The dinner at CWS was quite good from memory. Way back on the early pages of this thread you can see @pagingjoan and I speak of it.

Ah, memories!
But surely that Rockford discussion can’t have been that long ago?

Segueing from that:
Brilliant dinner last week at CWS.
We returned from Europe that morning and saddled up for dinner in the evening.
Just twelve people, with Guest of Honour Guy de Rivoire, Commercial Director of Bollinger, to launch to Bollinger La Grande Annee 2008.
The bubbles flowed impressively and were delicious. And the meal was superb.

Sorry!
Highjacking the thread, I now realise. :)

Maybe we need to put together our own dinner. We could pick a decent place to eat and each of us bring a nice Rockford. I could do the talking 😂

This could be a fun idea.

As I mentioned to you, I was thinking about doing a few dinners to deplete stock. There are certainly a few vertical, horizontal, and "blob" stashes of good red, which are approaching, or have made it to, the "you better drink" stage.

Time flies!

Sounds amazing. I did see that one, but didn't know if I was going to be in Melbourne so held off. Now I'm jealous.

Funnily enough I had a rummage around underneath my stairs ( aka the cellar) recently and found a few lost souls.

05 Basket Case went well with the spag Bol last Friday. A couple of boxed SVSs also surfaced and could make it to a dinner sometime.

o_O That's an interesting description (bolded). That's more likely to be us than the wine ;)

On topic as we visited Elderton with @Buzzard this year after Rockford ... maybe a stretch??!!

Got an email on Monday for a dinner in October with Cam and two others from Elderton, to be held at E'cco in Brisbane. $160pp. Didn't book yesterday at lunch when there were only 3 tickets left ... by dinner time they were all gone! 😭 I'm first on the waiting list now.
Much more reasonable price than $450.
