Rockfords discussion

I've never bought a magnum in my life, so there's some novelty to it, but do realise the added cost over double does seem a little odd. I mainly bought it for a special occasion or Christmas with friends, as it's more easy to be shared that way. Is there any truth to a magnum having a slightly different taste due to its volume and how that ages in the bottle?

In the future, I'd be much more inclined to purchase a magnum of the Black Shiraz if offered to me :D
I keep the odd magnum on hand. They are good if you are having a group of friends over and just want to keep pouring rather having to go to the waiter’s friend all the time. It also settles the debate “what are we going to have next? “ 😊

The other issue is cellaring - magnums take up more room, so less bottles per shelf. I have 2 I think at the moment, only bought because one was an insanely good price and the other was a "buy 11 of a certain bottle and we'll throw in magnum". I'd make an exception for Rockfords...

The above letters and reference are completely lost on me, unless you've started to speak Welsh :o

Hmm, perhaps you opened a Rockfords early today :o

Yeah sorry, it comes up occasionally on AFF but you have to have watched House of Cards UK ( original) version on the telly some years ago to know what it means.

“You may well think that, QFWP, I could not possibly comment.” - a wink to say that what is being suggested is actually true.😊

If the standard bottles are under cork I always go for the magnums whenever it is available, I’ve had no corked or tca issues so far for magnum bottles ,from vintages back from the 90’s until now.
As some have mentioned magnum does cellar longer and the cork god is still 10/10 for me.

Don't buy all the Magnums I haven't rung through for mine yet.

What happen to the Dry Country?

So i guess it’s worth buying a dozen of the ‘17?
A dozen would be a few too many of one wine in that price range for me. As a fanboy I prefer to spread my dozen over it, the cab Shiraz, the cab and the Shiraz or frugal farmer etc
