I keep the odd magnum on hand. They are good if you are having a group of friends over and just want to keep pouring rather having to go to the waiter’s friend all the time. It also settles the debate “what are we going to have next? “I've never bought a magnum in my life, so there's some novelty to it, but do realise the added cost over double does seem a little odd. I mainly bought it for a special occasion or Christmas with friends, as it's more easy to be shared that way. Is there any truth to a magnum having a slightly different taste due to its volume and how that ages in the bottle?
In the future, I'd be much more inclined to purchase a magnum of the Black Shiraz if offered to me
