Rockfords discussion

Nice, sounds great. I was going to take a few friends who are big drinkers - do you think they just keep topping you up or is there the option to pay for more wine? I'd be happy to pay for more but interested to get an idea on volumes. To give you an idea, these guys would easily fly through 2+ bottles each over a 3 hour sitting.

There is a glass of paired wine for each course. They will top up but usually only the once each course. A "please sir, can I have some more?" would I think be out of place.

Ha, they're not rowdy - far from it. I don't think being big drinkers always equates to being a yobbo. They just enjoy drinking good wine.

There are 5 courses, each paired with different wine so let’s say 10 glasses including refills plus dessert wine. At the end of the meal we were offered to taste the latest vintage, not big pours but at least another full glass all up. I reckon that’s plenty wine for lunchtime :)

And although the food wasn't huge serves it was excellent. I could have eaten all that bread with the beautiful butter but did pace myself. I felt full at the end but not uncomfortable.

I would thoroughly recommend it

I received a letter from Rockford's today (dated 17th Dec) advising they have had a lot of feedback about bottle variation with the '18 RR and BP - specifically in the 375ml format, encouraging members to contact them to arrange the return and reimbursement for the cost and effort

wow I got a dozen 375ml and 3 x 750ml. I'll give them a call

Issue was only with half bottles according to the letter. My father in law purchased a bunch at the lunch we were at. He's opened a few and not had any issues.

I'm quite curious as to what the issue is. It must have either been something about the bottles or corks used (do they use different corks for half bottles?). Or perhaps some contamination in the bottling line, assuming they didn't do all half bottling in one day. I don't think it would be a wine issue given it's two different wines and the common factor is bottle size.

I saw that letter too. I had one of the 375's in December and it was great so I'll hang onto mine and drink them. If I come across any issues I'll let them know but probably no point jumping the gun and sending them all back. They're pretty good on returns/refunds from what I have heard.

Problem is I gifted some of the 375ml for Christmas :) I'll give them a call and discuss it anyway

The issue appears to be random oxidation,
I gather these are a half-sized version of the proprietary Rockford bottle, made/used for the first time, so maybe some neck size/internal shape variation allowing air ingress due to poor sealing with corks, which I'm told are quite small.

I've never purchased RR half bottles previously. Are they using different ones this (well now last) year that this has become an issue?

Took you a long time to get the letter @Steady, there appears to be no specific time limit to return.
