I was very underwhelmed by the new release. Hopefully it improves during the next 10 years and I'm still around to enjoy it.It wasn’t solid last Thu10 10rsday!
Yer I should of asked them to taste the BP and see what they thought.Really should have brought it up in the SW room. May have been a 'bad bottle' ?
I'll be back in a few weeks so will give it another try. If it's not to my liking I'll discuss it.Really should have brought it up in the SW room. May have been a 'bad bottle' ?
Let us know how it goesI'll be back in a few weeks so will give it another try. If it's not to my liking I'll discuss it.
Will do.Let us know how it goes
By the way, did I read somewhere that you're taking 8 to a future Stonewall lunch? Is this because you're an original member/a case of two tiers of membership, or is another Stonewaller providing the other half of the guest spots? /jealous!I'm taking some people there on the first weekend in December.

i have known them for more than 20 yrs and also been there and they have great wine collection and i often order from them and their black Shiraz is a world class great addition to any nice occasion or give as a gift.. they also have soft Alicante Bouchet which is great with everyday meal..Eeek, I might be in trouble now - got a letter from Rockford this morning saying I'm on the mailing list and I have a membership code, plus giving me another order form
I also really disliked the way they were rubbishing HH in that review, I think it was GW who was also doing the same to Haliday recently by virtue of him being in his eighties which pissed me offI have tried it 3-4 times over ~12 months, IMO it’s not as good as the ‘15 or ‘16 - 90-91 for me but 85 is harsh. They can only rate the wine in front of them but seems like a dud bottle. Don’t get their need to rubbish HH
Are they still on the ‘17 Dry Country? So I went to Rockford on Saturday for a "mini tasting" so got to taste the 19 Basket Press again.
Unlike my experience in October, I actually enjoyed the BP on this occasion.
At first the wine was soft and delicate on the palate. The back palate however revealed a bold and earthy Shiraz, typical of the Barossa. One of my guests described it as strong.
When I asked if there would be any available for public release, I was told maybe.
Another piece of information I gleaned was that if you have any 96 or 97 BP, drink it now. I was also reminded of the drink within 10 years rule, based on not knowing how everyone stores their wine.
Edit to add:
The Dry Country Grenache ($50) is bang on. Worth getting if you enjoy this variety IMHO.
I didn't write anything down but I'm pretty sure it was the 17. I should have paid more attention. Are they still on the ‘17 Dry Country?
Yes, SW can get an additional 6 as the '18 wont be out till next year. They had a good '17 vintage, plenty to go aroundAre they still on the ‘17 Dry Country?
