That's a shame, but hope everyone including the replacements had an awesome day.
Awesome. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Looking forward to the next one and hopefully I am chosen.

I'm still coughing but at least ears have cleared up and I will haul my carcass into work tomorrow.

Rotten timing! Oh well, next year :) Glad you enjoyed it Pat ..

Well, I don't think there's much value I could add which simongr and ors. haven't already covered in their posts on the discussions. Pretty much nailed everything I can remember.

I'm guessing that QF81 & QF82 was not discussed during the "Good discussion on the definition of loyalty" I am loyal to Qantas, but unfortunately due to the removal of this route my loyalty is being challenged...

We have the same issue in PER with 71/72 and retimings on the 77. It was addressed in the wider context of how this doesn't seem to be consistent with their statements on Asia, and the short version was that we put the planes where the pax are.

Congratulations to everyone that got upgrades on the way home courtesy of the CL (and I believe that may have been close to everyone except me). I offered my boarding pass when I entered but was told it wasn't necessary. Pity, there were 9 empty seats in J on my flight as well ...

I paid for mine as an ODU, still 10k pts well spent.

Mind you, the pork omlette left a little to be desired on SYD-PER. Didn't feel too flash after eating it (stomach started auditioning for the next Cirque Du Soleil tour). Made a point of calling up a Customer Care Exec to flag it just in case there's been any further reports on that dish or day that show a pattern.

Well, to be fair it is consistent with the Asia strategy, just not fairly servicing the entire country. Even if 80% of the population resides on the eastern seaboard.

I did bring up these issues with Lesley. She mentioned something along the lines of what you were told, and also confirmed my suspicion that the current fleet is being stretched (so of course what's happening is that more services from the eastern seaboard is being serviced in trade for less services in the west - not ideal, but they need more aircraft).

Hope those Boeing 787-900s are going to come soon, because they can't appear fast enough. Hopefully without faulty batteries.

A pork omelette for an all-day meal main course? What the hell? For breakfast main course, sure, but for all-day meal, seriously?

I suspect the other option was a salad. I'd also suspect it must be somewhat better than the omelette.

Other than that, I assume you had a nice trip home. I did too, on a refurbished 767. Full to the gills in J. Wish the flight was longer. We had a choice of some kind of Mediterranean chicken plate, or zucchini and basil soup. I took the soup, which was OK. The bread was edible ;)

Still don't understand why they won't let P1 into the CL...

I brought this up with Red Roo at the Lunch.

In PER there is only the QP & its disappointing there is no J Lounge, PER deserves a J lounge, because of that I suggested letting the P1's into the CL. I could see Red Roo knew where I was coming from, but I dont like my chances of anything happening about it. (fingers crossed)

I really hope something does change about access into the CL for P1's, there is less P1's than CL's so I really dont see the problem with it. Red Roo did mention its all about the privacy for the celebs & etc that go into the CL.

I think we've had plenty of discussions of this kind on AFF. It always keeps coming back to the fact that there are too many Platinums through PER who will crowd the J lounge anyway (or at least make for a somewhat deserted QP). Suffice to say, what's not to claim SYD and CBR don't have the same problem (or even BNE for that matter, but we all know the BNE J Lounge is too small - I've been told that is being "addressed").

A J Lounge idea is nice in principle, though. I wouldn't guarantee it's a sanctuary, however, just that you may get better drinks and food.

And that I think stands as a valid reason not to let P1s (or any non-CL for that matter) into the CLs by gazetted policy. It's not anything about P1s not taking up extra space, it's just a matter of preserving the whole idea of what CL is about (and, to be fair, it's more than just an exclusive lounge set).

I'm not sure how many people actually brought up whether P1 had sufficient incentive and benefits for those who attained the level. I know it was raised during a round of questioning, and the answer seemed to be positive, but there's still a difference between a P1 from AFF and one that isn't. So if P1s are not happy about their lounge situation, I'm guessing there must be something else to be offered, but access to CLs is pushing the envelope a bit (and I will re-emphasise here that this pushing has nothing to do with the practical aspect of the proposal).

A pork omelette for an all-day meal main course?

A couple years ago they were offering a pork omelette for supper MEL-HKG (or maybe it was the return). Asian inspired. But the sauce was way too salty and the dish was basically inedible.

.....but those poor celebs then have to mix with common WP's in the F lounge when they fly internationally. ewwwww, yuk. The inhumanity of it all.

Actually CL lounge access is something I really couldn't care less about. The thought of finding myself in the company of politicians and media celebs makes me shudder! Dreadful prospect!

Would you rather be in their over crowded QP or their under used CL in PER?

I know where I would rather be

The VA Lounge suits me in PER.

I didn't realise people still flew to PER from the east coast with QF. Dreadful experience.

Funnily enough I actually had someone from the P1 team gasp in complete surprise that I would take the VA J product over a new QF A330 on my MEL-PER runs. talk about out of touch!

I agree. BA do it with their GGL.......if they have concerns about the numbers all they have to do is raise the threshold.

In the same way that you would not visit the J Lounge when you travel internationally when there's a nicer F Lounge available :)

Comparing the CCR with the CL is not apples and oranges.

Even QF F pax cannot get into the CL (if one existed for them to use). BA F pax can get into the CCR.

And once again, I would postulate that the reason QF have for not allowing P1s into the CL is nothing to do with the practicality of numbers.

P1's wanting CL access.. sounds like DYKWIA to me. QF should have built a J lounge in PER along time ago.
