Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

The oldest appliance in my home is the dishwasher, it came with apartment and is noisy. When it dies i will likely finally reovate the kitchen, i want a 6 burner cook top and 900mm wide oven, the standard 600mm is limiting at times. And dish drawer dish washer.

I dont use the oven a lot but I am a baker and when you have trays and trays of cakes easiest when you can bake altoghter. Only time I cook a roast is Christmas, so the Pork and Turkey need to be cooked separately. I figure bigger oven is more useful than dual ovens.

LG and Panasonic have far better picture quality than Samsung - but that's another discussion for another thread ;)

QLED isn't OLED either etc.

Top loaders just wouldn't work here for the 90% of households in the UK. I'd rather use the space for a tall standing fridge (those who know UK living will get the reference........).
Unfortunately Panasonic no longer sell TV in Australia. :( My Panasonic plasma still going strong but was considering a new Panasonic but alas!

Now moving onto dishwashers / I love my Miele which is super quiet/has the cutlery rack (I find) better than ‘basket-of-woe’ which houses all manner of debris. it has a deep pot draw at base which is wonderful….as I’m moving will be sad to let it go but will be first purchase in new abode (and a new Samsung fridge as leaving this one plumbed in)

We have a had a couple of dishwashers that were far from great. The LG one was very noisy. When we stayed at a couple of friends houses in Germany we noticed, or perhaps didn't notice, how quiet their Siemens dishwashers were and that they also did a good job. We bought a Siemens one when it came on special about 4 years ago and it has been great. Unlike many of the Bosch products, Bosch own Siemens, it was made in Germany and not China and had a 5 year warranty as opposed to the Bosch then 2 year warranty. It also has 3 racks with the top slim one for cutlery.

My sister lives in Europe and all Bosch appliances which I have tested and been impressed too-all made in G

It may have well been a 'short term' choice to supply Australia with machines from the Chinese factories at that time. I have noticed recently that the Bosch machines have often been adverised as being made in Germany

Only complaint about our office Bosch dishwasher is its too quite. Surprisingly, this gets raised every year at our conference 🤣

Okay - the final appliance to finalise my new kitchen - an oven. Currently have two Smegs (60cm) one on top of other - one is steam but also works as regular oven. detest both of them…never hot enough.. newly installed 2008…
top one (the regular oven) had its thermostat replaced (free) six times until a year ago when I decided to just use oven No 2 as my default which is fine.
I don’t bake cakes but want really good oven for roasts and pyro clean.
ideas ? recommendations? Dobt need steam unless this is a hassle free option…

We have an oldish NEF double that has been boringly efficient.
New build is getting a single Miele pyro oven..along with a Miele microwave /combo steam to tidy up the tower
We have an oldish Miele dishwasher with the top cutlery drawer that I find convenient..so the new build is getting the same but newer

Yes, Bosch tall standing fridge for us in stainless steel, Bosch washing machine front loaded and Bosch dish washer. The dish washer as you say is pretty quiet. So is the fridge, apart from when it moans about being empty when we get back from a trip. The other dish washer is a humanoid - it's not the most reliable if I'm honest, but it has been working for many years without much maintenance required!

Shame, our VT or GT50 (I forget which we bought) is still plodding along nicely. The LG CX and BX series TV's are damn nice and all of my mates that have them wouldn't buy anything else. Amazing picture quality. You hardly hear of people buying Samsung these days due to those ranges.

Yep, all ours are ex-DE.
So you can’t hear that it’s finished and needs emptying!!😂
That's what the beeps are for :p

Weber BBQ? 🤭. I've currently got a Bosch. It heats up ok. It's an oven. I'd love a range. Not going to happen.

Asko dishwasher for us, it's one of the few (only?) that has metal bits inside instead of plastic.

Love having a 900mm oven but the lack of temperature increments is a pain in the you know what.

The twonks that re-did the kitchen before we bought the house decided to leave a non-standard gap. We wanted a gas stove with electric oven, but due to the abnormal size all we could buy was gas/gas or electric/electric. As Mrs FB wanted a gas stove........ the gas oven combo won. Absolute rubbish. We were going to knock down and re-do the kitchen, but as we (unfortunately) will likely be moving in the next year or two there's not really much point so we just put up with it. No idea what the brand of that one is, that's how rubbish it is! ;)

Love gas cook tops and electric ovens. Seems to be luck of the draw. Would love 900mm. I've been told 'ya dreamin'.

We are stuck with electric as no gas to individual apartments - the hot water is gas but that is a building wide thing on the roof. At least the Miele are good and I like the induction cooktop (even though MrLtL hates it).

Weber is definitely a given. Current house has it plumbed in but won’t be possible in new one - which I don’t mind. I’ll upgrade the model and use bottles.
….so far it’s looking like
Samsung fridge w ice/water dispenser
Miele dishwasher
NEF/Bosch/Miele?? Oven
TV - I like my LG
thanks everyone - translating travel refund dollars for my new place 😂🎉
