Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

We are stuck with electric as no gas to individual apartments - the hot water is gas but that is a building wide thing on the roof. At least the Miele are good and I like the induction cooktop (even though MrLtL hates it).
I am slowly getting rid of all gas appliances. My Smeg induction cooktop is terrific. I had to get a 700mm one due to the space so my choices were limited, but very happy.

Having had induction and gas, give me induction any day. Unfortunately both our houses have gas.
Interesting I would be very happy to have my gas cooktop back instead of induction. My place doesn't have gas :(

I've never has induction, but biggest issue I see is using a proper wok. I do like the clean look of induction though.

Anyone out there who has induction able to give quick pros/cons about their experience? Only electric at new place and making decisions re induction/standard electric cooktop… thanks in advance😀
As previously posted I have the wok burner covered via my Weber outside the kitchen

I've always had gas and when I moved in I had an ceramic cooktop that I just hated - it took forever and was not very sensitive. I ripped that out and put in an induction. The ceramic was 15 years old so not sure what the new ones are like

I had to buy new cookware which really annoyed me because I had some great pots that just didn't cut it and I want to put my roasting dish on the cooktop to make gravy after I've had a roast and can't do that anymore.

The advantage with my new induction is that it is easy to clean and keep clean but for me that's the only advantage over gas. I'm always pressing buttons by mistake when I lean over the pots at the back and if your hands aren't clean while you're cooking it is a bit hard to slide easily.

Good luck

We have a Miele induction cooktop and will have the same in the new build.
Swmbo, as the primary user finds it fast, accurate and reliable.
On the odd occasion that I have attempted to boil water , I find the touch controls quite difficult to manage. they should do better here.
Induction cooktops are good in terms of being easy to keep clean and also have a nice minimalist profile
Not so good is the cooktop bleating every time one parks something conductive on it.

When we had induction, I found the cook top easy to keep clean, like gas heat is instant but the single biggest advantage for me was temperature control. For example, induction will keep chocolate molten. It won't set, it won't get hot/hotter, it will simply stay in a molten state. I'd like to see that done with gas.
When I want to keep something warm on the cook top, it doesn't matter how low I have the gas it will boil if you put the lid on the pot.
Disadvantage is you might need new cookware but cookware is not that expensive.

Thankyou to everyone who assisted with first hand induction /std electric cooktop knowledge. I will investigate the cookware suitable for induction. If I need to sear/wok/access ferocious heat I’ll use the Weber I plan to install just outside the kitchen door
thanks again

Just to add to the pro-induction comments...

My induction cooktop has a timer that shuts it off. Try doing that with gas. ;)
