Same here cynix. Should have got in earlier. That’ll teach me to read AFF more frequently o_O

This seems to be of limited use. I tried it on my upcoming QF reservations.
Bookings made through AA couldn't be accessed at all.
Bookings made through BA came up fine, but attempting to select seats bombed out with an error message.
The only one that worked was a reservation booked directly with QF.

I just tried a QF flight booked with an agent. Got in and was able to select a seat, but at the end it came back with:

SOMETHING WENT WRONG.

I've tried a few times with different seats, having checked the seats were unoccupied. Rofl, it seems this is a limited use bug in their website software...

I just tested by using the Qantas site the book one of the seats I tried, and it was successful.

I just tried it for a whY booking made directly with QF online BNE-SYD next year. I could select 4A on the UL website and it now shows that over on the QF website. So it looks like the 'loophole' has not been closed. So far, so good.

However, I tried it for a booking made through Amex on my Ultimate card flight credit. Now Amex don't use Amadeus, but their Sabre(?) code seamlessly generated an Amadeus code so I can see my booking at QF (in the past it wasn't seamless, so it was necessary to phone QF and have them enter it manually). Using that Amadeus reference number at UL threw up an error message saying the booking could not be found.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the same booking on the QR website and it loaded. While it showed the seats I had already selected at QF, there was no option to change them at QR.

The wonders of IT.

Just managed to change all my domestic forward bookings.

Could not change an international booking, but that may be because it is RTW multi-airline booking with non OW carrier.

I've just changed us to row 5 on the return MEL - ADL flight and it's held in Qantas. Going to have a look at a booking next year I have through Qantas but on EK.

Looks like it's specific to flights booked directly with QF.

Bugger me, as they say in the classics. I tried the Sri Lankan hack, and it worked. I went back to my Qantas booking and found the seat I selected displayed! Whether it remains, I shall find out 24 hours before my flight next year. I couldn't fiddle a return seat? Maybe I'll try from BKK when the time comes, if QF haven't plugged the hole by then...LOL!! :-)

Plugged in my booking ref, says unable to retrieve booking

Got the same error with a QF booking originally made through AMEX travel, then changed on the QF Website.

Maybe UL has a flaky website that occasionally grants excess access?

If the hole is still there, will be interesting to see how quickly it gets plugged. If QF weren't already aware of this, no doubt the article on AFF Gazette will have given them a heads-up

Cheers Skip

I really doubt these seats will hold.

Those who’ve seen my posts in another thread will know I’m on a QF747 next week and I’m awaiting T-80 to get an upperdeck seat. At present about 8 seats are taken, 4 blocked and the rest not available to me as SG.

I’ve logged in via UL and can select any upper deck seat, including those already taken and the ones that are blocked. That doesn’t seem right.

I see no reason that they won't hold as long as you have not taken anyone else's seat (ie just blocked seats).

I went into MMB on QF and they seem pretty sticky

No luck here with some upcoming domestic flights. I was able to select the seats on Sri Lankan's website (after ensuring they were blocked but not taken on expert flyer) but at the final confirmation it had an error. It seems like I'll be stuck back with the rest of the gold plebs. :p

Extremely unlikely to get bumped because of a higher status passengers once you have selected the seat.

Nice hack, give everyone a level playing field when choosing seats so it is really first in first served.

Has anyone tried to see if it work on PE seats on a domestic 787 flight?

At T-80 hours, Row 4 If still available is opened up BY Qantas for Gold FF MEMBERS.

I just had a look for an upcoming 787 domestic booking and yes, this would appear to work.

As a gold member with QF I am able to select a PE seat on the QF website anyway though, so I didn't try to change my seat.
