Row 4 - 737

I changed some domestic seats a few days ago and they still appear to be holding, but a new booking made yesterday via corporate TA returns an error message. Looks like the loophole has been closed.

I used the loophole yesterday to snag 24A and 24B on a QF35 flight MEL-SIN

I'd be worried about the "oh well". Would hate to end up in 29E on a full flight.

I'll stick with row 6 and the possibility of moving to row 4 at T-80 hours. Much safer.
It was ADL - MEL, I'm sure I would have survived, albeit more cramped. As it was being a silver I couldn't pick past 16 anyway. Being near the front wasn't important, a bit more space was and we can't get an exit row with a child.

Without having EF, I selected 4A on a 737 flight and it showed in MMB. At T-80 I changed to 4D then back to 4A (just wanted to see if 4A would show as occupied after I changed out).

Flew in 4A with no issue. But I wonder what would have happened if I had chosen 4C, which was occupied by a CL.

Well if you'd used the free Expert Flyer search of the seat map you'd have seen whether that seat was occupied or not at the time you did your seat selection.

That's ok for a platinum with forward seating anyway. For non-status... little if anything to lose.

Didn't know, didn't matter :)

Though out of curiosity I may try it another time to see what does happen if you select an occupied seat. Free upgrade to J? :D

I still get an error message when trying to confirm a shift to row 4 or 5 seats that show as available on EF.

Interestingly I downloaded the UL iPhone app to see if I could get that to work: it shows me the seat map a NB would see - I.e. The app shows everything forward of row 19 as unavailable and isn't picking up my SG seating options, let alone allowing me to pick row 4.

It looks like this loophole may have been shut down.

I have a couple of QF revenue bookings where attempting to log into the Sri Lankan website gives the error below. I can still open another older QF award booking which includes UL segments.

In my case it gives that error when trying to access a booking containing an EK operated QF flight, but it still works for other itineraries that only include QF and BA flights.

The two bookings I tried are both QF operated flights. One to LHR and another to CHC.

I managed to change my seat from SYD-MEL to 4 from the front in Y.

So far it is showing up on the QFF site.

As a bronze I was seated another 12 rows back.

Just tried it on a QF website booking BNE-ADL and it worked (first time for me). Nice :)

Worked for me on brand new booking. It appears to only like QF only bookings and you need to check EF to ensure seats not taken

I have a booking with QF domestic flights only on an 081 ticket but was booked by a corporate TA so ha both the agent PNR and the QF PNR, neither of which work and I get the reported error.

Same experience here: was able to use this trick on flights purchased directly on the Qantas web site (using a flight voucher) but not with flights booked through our corporate travel agent.

Used it again for a flight to BNE from ADL on Saturday to snag row 4. So far my booking in Sept to SYD is still showing row 4 too.

That's my experience as well. Have a QF booking BNE-HKG but booked through AMEX and it doesn't recognise the PNR. Also have QF award bookings but on EK metal. It brings up my bookings, lets me go to seat selection but then comes up with an error when I proceed.
