RSA MEL F Lounge Qantas Official Response (Refused Drinks)

Goodness me. I go away to the wilds of Tassie for a few days and look what happens.

Ah yes - that naughty little child who causes the original problem - then goes and hides under the bed when the mother starts stomping around the house looking for culprits - I have seen this type before!

How is this still an active thread???

How indeed? Every so often one of us posts and .. oops, there you go. :)
This is still an open thread as there is no reason to close it. Unless threads get out of control they are normally left to die naturally rather than to be closed down.

If people are indeed sick of a thread then stop reading it. When enough people have done this it will then die away without help.

It will just turn up its toes and shrivel up, till found again by someone sometime in the future and then it will gain a whole new life again.

I don't know, it did make good reading when things were slow and I don't mean the experiences of those who were subject to the seemingly arbitrary RSA enforcement.

Just to update

I have sent yet another follow up message to red Roo to see if and when they intend to reply or if they intend to ignore me and this thread.

RSA MEL F Lounge Qantas Official Response ( Refused Drinks)

Flawless service in the MEL lounge right now. Bollinger is flowing freely.

So freely in fact, it took me about 15 seconds to not spell it floorless.

Now the BIG question is are you flying JQd? or International on QF or JQ?

Good to see that as per QF staffer there is ALWAYS self serve wine available :) :) :)

Obviously there are not enough guests yet. But as soon as there is, without doubt, they will "often" put the self serve booze out.

Still I don't think I can believe that picture without both sides of the story.

Today, on JQd in Business.

I must add, this is the first time I've done it, and it's not really worth the hassle to me of arriving earlier.

It just so happens that today being the first day of school holidays, it was cheaper to fly on JQ on a BusinessMax fare than it was on a QF economy ticket.

Justification over, I don't feel any guilt whatsoever!

Ansett, it's surprising that Red Roo has not got back to you publicly via AFF as I would have thought that "free" alcohol was a pretty big incentive for individuals to become members of FF schemes and to fly sufficiently to qualify for whichever lounge admission.

Things may be changing due to migrants whose cultures do not have an emphasis on alcohol, but surely among QFF members a clear majority would drink rather than be (heaven forbid) teetotallers?

Unfortunately Slater and Gordon, Maurice Blackburn influenced political correctness has taken over more and more in Australia.

Given that if you are in an airport lounge you are most unlikely to be driving a vehicle soon, consumption should be left up to individuals. The vast majority will be sensible. There's nothing wrong with some becoming a bit tipsy, provided of course they do not turn into an obnoxious, aggressive drunk. I have observed many individuals who can be 'tipsy' but still act with relative decorum.

Are all such QF 'enhancements' aimed at taking away the joys of life such as being able to enjoy a few wines, beers or spirits?

I just read half of this thread backwards and it did my head in.:confused:.

At the risk of being on topic, invocation of RSA seems a remarkable concept in a MEL QP, where the 6 o'clock swill seems all the go in the afternoons. Then on QF flights they just tip back my head, open my mouth, and pour wine in until I say stop (or more likely shay shtop ).

BTW Yeah I know it was an Flounge. The private bar of the QP .

Cheers skip

I think that's as good a response as could reasonably and realistically be expected, and am not particularly impressed by the follow-up questions.
