[Rumor from QF CSAs] Qantas to bring back online mASA's?

International bookings are mainly the ones that do vary and it is important to know them, along any penalties. (e.g. MEL-SYD have had $331 change fees in the past.)

The majority of my bookings tend to be international and the T&C's are a real mixed bag. I try to book fully refundable but it is not always possible. The First Saver FASA's have been quite restrictive.

Will get some time tomorrow afternoon hopefully

QF WP, it is clear that there is a more than passing interest in this subject and I note you have had time to post 17 or so posts on other threads since your last post here, so could you perhaps spare a minute and give us all an update? I'm not asking for chapter and verse, just an indication which direction Qantas are heading with these. Cheers.

Slightly off topic, if I may

Have you ever changed an INT J/F-ASA yet?

If so, what's the penalty like in terms of points and/or $$ ?

Not cancellation, but change.

If suitable, that would open up a tiny avenue to address the impending 'review' outcome.

Entirely depends on the route and origin. ex-AUS is generally worse - often the 'Saver' rules apply. Some are fully flex & refundable, obviously a lot harder to know when booking over the phone now. I recall changing most intl ASAs I've booked. Generally can be done online with very little fuss. Occasionally I have rang and added sectors or completely changed the route. Only once did they forced a rebook fee of $60 or something, otherwise it has always been just the fare difference. They do not charge additional points... cash only.

If you've got a route in mind, book it as commercial fare and compare the fare rules. Then when booking the ASA figure out which ones apply.

Thanks

I am exploring this possibility, having accepted the pessimistic view that the current "review" will bring nothing but a confirmation of what we think QF is heading towards.

Last bullet, so to speak, before that date.

Then, change to a more relevant, non-frivolous date on the same route.

.

Not my experience last week. I had to change one flight on an upcoming TSV/BNE/AKL/BNE/TSV JASA or else I would have missed a connecting flight back to Sydney. On line it would have cost me around $814 just to change it to an earlier flight from BNE-TSV on the return leg. Over the phone cost me $140 which was $100 change fee and $40 Assistance fee or 3500 points for the assistance fee.

Changing flights online is ridiculous BTW. I just threw up one of my bookings which was just a cheap sale fare SYD/BNE/SIN in Y for the family in April next year which only cost $827 p.p. If I wanted to change a flight online, this is what I get per person:

Am I the only one thinking that is a bit over the top? The four prices (L-R) are for sale, red-e deal, super saver and flexi saver.

Am I the only one thinking that is a bit over the top?

Firstly ex-AUS and TT flights might be a bad combo, JASAs always a 'business saver' which has the $100 change fee. I've just checked and looks like they've broken the site for changing JASAs online too, sigh... I had one to change too.

The change prices you're seeing don't seem that crazy. A new booking for that day is currently around $1300 r/t. Compared with what you paid during the sale, those differences are spot on.

Don't get me wrong, I always bemoan how inflexible fares are in this part of the world. And you're getting the worst end of it.

Too scared to publish, maybe.

QF WP, do you wish you had more points to use for MASAs over the next six months or so?

Looks like QF WP is missing in action with the good news that hopefully ASAs will return :)

Where art thou QF WP?.

Perhaps he has been gagged by QF.

Have to say that the longer the report takes the less likely it is to contain any good news

Given the reports yesterday that only point to point ASAs can now be booked, if true this myth is busted.

Not necessarily. That might actually make it *easier* to bring MASAs (or something like them... quasi-MASAs?) back online.

I wouldn't be expecting "good news" as such. After all, he wasn't talking to AJ
