Re: Evacuate, Evacuate now now and

Have walked down from level 38 and level 15 in fire alarm evacuations. You then have jelly legs for a couple of days because you use different leg muscles going downstairs. Better to be safe than ignoring the hooter.

Thanks everyone for the input, staying there May 15 for the first time, ready for QF 23 next morning. Hopefully a room with a view of the airport, and not the carpark.

When a "strange" woman walks past you in the QF Lounge on the 16th & says "morning Dr Ron" - remember this conversation. :)

I've had three nights here...1 in a standard room queen room (alone) and 2 in a family king suite (with wife and 3 kids), managing to score airport views with all stays. I can only report good things on food, cleanliness and comfort and have no problem staying here again.

Being able to walk to check-in prior to an international flight must add a year or two to life expectancy while my 2yr old managed to fall asleep btw customs and the hotel. Happy to put a still sleeping child to bed. My room rate was an extra $15 for breakfast, good value considering it included 4 eaters.

I usually stay at the HI when in SYD and will do unless an international flight is either end. Just easier to get too, a little more sound proof and darker rooms.

We stayed at the Mercure Sydney Airport in Dec and found the room very comfortable and quiet. As Accor Adv Plus members we got a special rate of $149 room only and also 50% discount on food when dining in the hotel. We had dinner in the bar area and the barman/waiter who ran the place on his own was terrific. Shuttle to the Int terminal was $6 per person. Breakfast was in the brand new SQ Lounge.

Have also stayed at the Ibis on O'Riordan Street - comfortable compact room, quiet area and excellent service from the staff.

Off to the big city next weekend and have chosen to stay at the Mercure rather than in the city. $101 for the night, free parking, Wolli Creek train station a 10 minute walk from the hotel for direct access to the city - without the airport access fee!

There is an Accor sale on till tomorrow for stays during April and the Mercure pricing at $101pn and the Ibis at $90pn.

Safe travels then. We are heading off for 6 weeks UK, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Congrats on 30 years, btw we used to live in the Hunter Valley 20 years ago !!

Let's not meet by "accident" ;)
We are "skirting" Scotland from 30 May - Isle of Skye 30/31 May then to Outer Hebrides, to Orkneys, then Shetland Isles. By the 14th back to Cotswolds, 19th on Queen Victoria cruise from Southampton.

Love living in the Hunter, been here for 22 years, enjoy our space and peace & quiet on 100 acres. Yet less than 2 hours drive to be on George St, Sydney.

HiI stayed there earlier this week prior to a flight to the US (I'm in Tampa at the moment, some pampering at the (ex-Westin) Innisbrook Resort - a great round on Copperhead today for interested golfers). I thought the hotel was adequate.I had a larger room that faced the airport. The bed was soft yet still firm near the edges. My only real complaint was the lack of choice (wines) at the bar downstairs, however the restaurant had a slightly better selection. I only had an evening meal there as I was over at the Qantas First Class Passenger lounge quite early enough for the breakfast menu. ...

Yah! Into room with view of airport & Sydney skylineImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1400121700.392264.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1400121717.728184.jpg

I must remember to ask for a room with airport view next time I stay there.
Last few stays I got the car park view :(

I only asked for room on high floor, ended up on 2nd level of accommodation (4 of 7) so you don't always get what you ask for (though checking in at 12:30 may have limited number of rooms available at the time) Sitting here enjoying the free wi-fi though.

Sorry but the night before we got 8th floor with airport view.Much better than 3rd floor with carpark view last time.Paid exactly the same. Will post some pictures when Picassa behaves itself.

So we arrived when it was dark and left in the dark so not much activity-
