Scams like these

I got this email a couple of weeks ago purporting to be from eBay:
Hi all,

Hope you’re well

This is just to highlight to you that if you are ABN registered, you will need to input the information to eBay to avoid Netflix Tax (10%)

Previous communications were sent out to ensure our sellers are being exempt from this tax so, if you have ABN, please submit it at the below link
Please ensure you log in to your eBay and remove any space between your ABN

You can find more information below
<link removed>

To submit your ABN please use the below link
<link removed>

If you have any questions, please let me know

Thanks,

That one set off every warning bell for malicious emails - no reference to our user ID, poor spelling & grammar, no punctuation, strange terminology, reference to previous messages that we hadn't received, etc etc.

Turns out it was actually a legitimate email from an AU eBay employee whose job it is to communicate platform changes to SMB (eBay Store) customers.

Got a text from 0478730920. Phishing email wanting me to go to a fake Commonwealth Bank site.

Searched for the number, its all over Google as a scam number from the last month.
WHOIS'd the site. Registered by "Oleksandr" in Ukraine and paid for by Bitcoins. Clearly legit!
Sent an email to host abuse to investigate and shutdown.
Contacted Optus about fraudulent number on their network

Just got an automated call:

Congratulations, you been selected by QANTAS to receive 900.....

I hung up at this point.

P.S. I assume they were phishing for my QFF details.

Another one this morning...

My first thought was that the prize options are bizarrely imbalanced

I got my first call from the "vehicle accident" scammers today. As I don't have the quick wit of some of those on here I just told her she was a liar and hung up.

I get a lot of these...I also have several vehicles and therefore a few "real" accidents as well.
I just ask for the date of the accident...they cant even give you that usually so I hang up.

I was in a bad mood the other day when I got a call and swore at the guy for wasting my time before hanging up.
He rang back straight away 6 times!!
I could see the same number on caller ID so didn't answer.
They must really think you are stupid....

Just got a call on my mobile from +6119544218985 saying "congratulations, you have been chosen by Qantas to receive $999 off your next trip - press 1 to continue" - I pressed hang up!
Anyone else scored this??

Had phone call two evenings ago, with a recorded "You've been selected for a $999 travel voucher from Qantas. To claim your voucher, press 1".

I pressed "hang up".

Wow. I just got robocalled by someone in Mandarin.

First it plays a recorded message in Mandarin claiming it is a reminding phone call from Chinese-Consulate General in Melbourne and that you have failed to collect something and it is the last chance, then it automatically transferred to a guy who speaks Mandarin Chinese. He said in order to confirm your identity you need to give him the personal detailed information. When doubted, the phone was cut off.

I've blocked "customer-service.at.directdisk.net" many times. Why is email still arriving in junk folder? Isn't that the point of blocking an email address? Don't receive any email from that email address.

I get a variety of spam from them. I'd write to Microsoft but don't think they care about Outlook/Hotmail unless you upgrade to premium version.
You can block all you want, you will still get it in.
I have blocked many "same" from address emails into my email, but they will still come.
I have hovered over the sender, and its word for word the same as the one I blocked, add to spam, and deleted.
Also, the spam/scam one where they use Amazon's name one especially gets on my nerves.
As if I had ordered from Amazon in the past, or will in future.
Amazon does not "light" my internal fire, so to speak.
