Scams like these

Has anyone ever had the dare or the gall to call back those missed 04XX phone calls.
Similar to the overseas Wangiri but the Aust ilk.
Car accident helpline, car accident investigation service line, fake ATO/AFP etc(?).
Apart from the overseas Wangiri, I have had a lit of 04XX calls from numbers I dont recognise... they never leave a message.

I received this recruitment offer via email linked to my Linkedin account. It is a complete scam, the company website only created in April 2021.
Searching the recruitment company name and "scam" shows it to be fake also.
Hello prozac,

I am reaching out to see if you would be interested in exploring new opportunities. I am Executive Recruiter of SN Recruitment Inc. Our client has retained us to fill various senior-level positions in one of their recent acquisitions. I was referred to you by an outside talent sourcing firm and based on your previous experience at xx_xx xx_xx Limited, I think you are a very credible candidate.

If you are interested in learning more, please reply back to this email with an updated copy of your resume and I will connect you with the recruiter leading this project and schedule an introductory call.

Best regards,

John Walsh

I have left the domain link in full as there is no danger in visiting the site and it serves to educate what a scam looks like. I have requested the site be taken down.

If you read that email, you will see that English is not his first language.
I would have written "I am the Executive Recruiter for"...
Not "I am Executive Recruiter of"...
And "schedule an introductory call", I would have written "schedule a introductory call"...
Anyway, I don't really see the point of being in L'inkedin.

My Dear,

Forth purpose of introduction, I am Mr. Jose Kumi the son of Mr. Tariq Kumi of South Sudan which was in formal Darfur, but presently on its own as a nation. There is an amount of money (US$20 Million.)TWENTY MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS ) which my late Father deposited here in South Africa and into (Security Vault company) awaiting claim before he was assassinated by unknown persons during the war in Darfur Sudan and before we gained independence and separated from Darfur Sudan.

I am contacting you because I need your full cooperation to make this work fine because I want to have you as a local partner. Meanwhile, I will like to inform you that my areas of investment interest are as follows:
1) Transport Industry.
2) Mechanized agriculture.
3} Real Estate investment.

upon your confirmation receipt of this message and your reassurance to assist me on the project, I shall furnish you with more details. I have mutually agreed to compensate you with 30% of the total sum of the fund, which will be your share for assisting me, and 5% for any expenses that might be incurred by both parties in the course of the transaction. Then the remaining 65% will be for me and my family, which you will help us to invest in your country.
I will be looking forward to your earliest reply email me at [email protected]

Best Regards,
Mr. Jose Kumi

Mrsdrron got one from the ATO about our SMSF and how the reccomended changes had been made,Had a go here to view your changes.Really looked good and from ato.gov.au.Our accountant said a scam.We hadn't clicked on the link.
Quite sophisticated.

Ive been inundated with calls over the past 2 days. Very serious robot voice tells me that due to suspicious internet search history, my NBN is about to be shut down and I can be arrested by the federal police if I dont press 1.

Personally I welcome my NBN being shut down - its been nothing but a PITA since installed.

And just received this one.Pity it didn't use Bunning's email address.
drron your Bunnings shopper offer has arrived This Month.

I think that Nicole has given up on me (but maybe only for the time being...)

I was getting a daily recorded message phone call from 'Nicole' at the 'National Broadband Network', saying that she was going to cut off my internet connection. The calls seem to have stopped, but I'm still on the internet.

And today's scam call was from the so-called Telstra Technical Department, with a warning of suspicious activity on my internet. He hung up after I asked why would Telstra be involved.

No feeling the love. My scammers hang up on me. Maybe they're stalkers. or Robostalkers

Cheers skip

Yes we got those too and also from ato.gov.au domain. Our accountant also said it was a scam, but i found this one quite scarily plausible. Luckily i always check anything about the ATO with the accountant.

I went along with the accident scam quite a few years ago; I knew it was suspicious but wanted to see what ensued. I gave them fake details, apart from phone number (which they clearly already had). A legitimate insurance company rang me (can't remember which) with enough information to indicate that the original call from OS, was a cold-call attempt to generate business for the Insurance company. I reported it to a couple of regulatory agencies for zero interest or result.

Now that I'm working from home, the regular scam calls are sport to me.

Imagine if one of us on here learnt properly one of the dialects of the "Telstra" call centre callers, and started a conversation in Tamil/Hindi/Urdu or Gugerati... with minimum wrongs!
Those Indian dialects take a long time to learn.
Not sure how but some one I know said that if you are on NBN data only, and make no option about voice calls, ie use your mobile phone only, the fakers cant call you on the "landline", as you then not have a "landline".

Had a robot call me on a private number about lunch today, advised me my Amazon Prime account was being deduction from my bank account for $39.99 per month. I hung up - I don't have Amazon Prime.
