Scams like these

I use SpamFighter Pro.
A 3 yearly subscription but I forget how much. Just check their website.
I like that you can block, blacklist or whitelist senders or domains in addition to the stuff that doesn't even get through.
Thanks. Looks like they also have free version.

They mention they protect your inbox. I want my spam/junk box protected. Way too many useful emails end up in spam/junk box and I don't want to keep going through p.e.n.i.s elongators and I'm waiting naked for you now junk.

Seriously why so difficult for Outlook to just delete these? And also when I report these emails within minutes I get a new one. How do they know? Scum.

If something ends up in my spam filter I whitelist it. Next time it goes to my inbox.

Well ... I had received a phone call from a AU mobile number around 1930 last night. I was working and did not answer. I rang that number this morning, rang, no response. So I hang up. Got a text message after 5 mins from that number that the person is busy, can't answer phones and asks what my name was and what was the call regarding. I replied that I'm returning a call from this number. The person replied that they had received a phone from my number around 1900 last night and they were simply returning my call.

Now, I did not make the call because I did not have the phone on me, as I was working ... Looks like a scam call had been simulated from my mobile number ...

Similar to what happened to me a few weeks ago, bleedin’ ratbags.

Hello ,

Compliment of the day. My name is Maria Clennett. I am a philanthropist. I dedicate my time and resources towards uplifting the downcast in different parts of the world. I am 68 years of age, and I was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago. All efforts to fight and resist it has proved abortive and as such, I am left with no other option than to give out financial donations to people that are inclined with charitable dispositions, so that they can also reach out to the less privileged in their immediate environment: especially those that are most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. I have therefore bequeathed part of my fortune (Total sum of £1,963,920.00 Great Britain Pounds) to you in cash for your personal and charitable goals. I know I have never met you in person, but instincts tell me to do this in good faith and I hope you act sincerely. Reply for more details if interested.

Please note that this is solely a charity donation to you, for your personal and charitable goals. I hope you can reach out to the less privileged in your immediate environment.

Best Regards,
Maria Clennett

I reckon scammers get off on pissing people off … responses like the above are almost as juicy as the sweet sweet cash to them.

Gotta tell ya they don't like it when you start asking what they are wearing ... like any underwear, go on you can tell me. ;)
Hey that’s an interesting one! Having the power to annoy them drains all the fun out of it for them … :)

Although the labour employed in places where the entire culture is effectively “ripping someone off is good business practice as it means you’ve won the business transaction” probably don’t understand our objection to scams … if someone’s stupid enough to fall for it they deserve it, right?

I usually let numbers I don't recognise go through to voicemail. If a legit contact they will leave a message.
But, recently I answered a couple just for interest.

The first was a normal human who was returning a missed call from my number. In a pleasant conversation, I assured her I had not called her and let her know about how scammers spoof numbers to be displayed. So, it would seem my number has been used.

The second call was from XYZ bitcoin trading platform (didn't note the actual fake name they were using), advising me they had some profits on my account that needed to be transferred to my bank account, and they just needed the account details. I pointed out that they had started the call referring to my existing trading account and I asked why they couldn't just use the details already registered. I think at this point I chuckled a bit and the scammer realised he had just wasted his precious time, and hung up.

I had one call me back to tell me what a rude person I was. My phone my rules. Don't like it don't call. Not my normal behaviour, but I'd do anything to stop them calling my landline. I'd also do it to the fellas too. They were very uncomfortable with it and would hang up quickly.
I don't get scam calls now since I stopped my landline service.

I knew a guy that used to ask what colour underwear they were wearing. He also spent 30 minutes on a call to solar scammer and then told him he was renting. He has a lot of spare time

I'd find the time to throw scammers off track. Problem is can't get past 2 minutes before they hang up on me.

Is it just me, or am I the only person that actually enjoys a fresh scam? They are actually entertaining. They simply become part of Life. I get the usual, such boring things as "There has been XYZ activity on your ABC thing", through to stellar such things as I have been recorded watching cough! OMG the shame! Of course I am instantly compelled to (a) learn how to pay someone in bitcoin, and (b) actually pay them. But there is a side benefit. I never actually understood how many relatives I had in Ghana! I love the whole thing with DNA where you can track your ancestry, but these guys save you forking out for this. I think at the moment I have at least twenty distant relatives in Africa, and lucky for me, they all have small fortunes that they wish to share with me. Am thankful that modern DNA things will ensure I never have to work again.

If you want to string them along, do what the Youtube anti scammers do, waste their time, and play along with a vm.
Use your own voice, and log down (ie, write out their spiel), ie what their (scammers) aim is.
The fake NBN scam
The fake bank account will be locked scam.
The fake AFP scam.
The fake ATO scam.
The fake LinkT scam.
The fake friend I have been robbed scam.
The silent call scam.
The fake tech support scam.
The fake will scam.
That is 8, nak, 9 I can think of.
You can always just put the phone down, after the speil has been read by them, and after all, we here in Aust do not pay to answer calls, of course, don't be "stupid" to call the wangiri walla back.
Edit: if you know a second language, apart from English, you can try that.
Use "hi hao" or namaste/namaskar ji, or vannakam, or apa khabar, or do some of the basic greeting the Arab languages use.

The couple all over the commercial TV chanels tonight who lost $100,000 to scammers. How many times have we been told NEVER to respond to the link provided? Following on, how could the couple still want their bank to compensate them because they let the subsequent caller open a new bank account for them by text?!?
